Orange Tile Preventing Commit!

I have looked on all three floors of my 18x18 design and I can't for the life of me find the "orange" tile preventing my house from committing. Are there any tricks? This is really becoming a hassle.

Thanks,
Aurora

Re: Orange Tile Preventing Commit!

*goes to study how to link pictures etc* Neighbors house is kind of in the way, but I didn't do anything special on the house, just doing the walls/floors currently.

And there are the pictures, I added just tiles to the fourth floor for a finished roof look as I don't plan on having open stairs up to there unless I can put a mini roof over them, doesn't make sense to let it rain in my house and all.

Also, each time I commit, do I lose money? I think I read some where you lose 10% of the total value each time you commit, but that seems a bit harsh/odd when I change a wall to a door and it costed 0.

Well I don't see any orange tiles either. I've never customized a house in KR though. It's the same as in 2d?

From the sounds of it, much harder and I find it terribly sad. Why bother making a new client when it sucks compared to the original? Perhaps poor coders? I don't really know, but I never had this much issue in 2d.

Re: Orange Tile Preventing Commit!

Sorry! I am currently installing my old 2d client and patching to build my house and then play in 3d, I swear I will go back to 3d! I am told though, would appreciate if someone could verify, that the custom spiral staircases made in 2d are not functional for 3d players? Anyone know of a place on Chese I could check if no one knows?

Re: Orange Tile Preventing Commit!

I've never built in KR, but I would check the two tiles separating the stairs on the second floor. If KR doesn't show orange tiles the same as 2d, it may be that you have inadvertantly overhung the stairs from the first floor.

Just a thought... Good luck!

Also, as an edit: Looking at the first floor image, are the floor tiles (tan colored ones) on the western wall all supported properly? They seem to be outside the house a bit. But, this may be a case of my "not-an-expert-housebuilder" eyes deceiving me.

Re: Orange Tile Preventing Commit!

I haven't customized in KR but I would go through each floor and make it so the walls are transparent, walk along all the edges in case you missed a tile. If you have any tele tiles, double check and make sure they aren't too close to a wall.
And also so you know, there is no longer 3d, only 2d and KR.

Re: Orange Tile Preventing Commit!

I don't see any orange tiles either. One thing I like about building in KR is the ability to use the scroll wheel on my mouse to move through the tiles in a menu, and I like the transparency menu being separate... but one thing I don't like is that clicking things into the correct spot is more difficult. Somehow, clicking things in general is more of a pain in KR than 2D (like, dropping things on the ground, for example).

Roofs are harder in KR too, as the tooltips don't pop up telling you what each roof piece is (to indicate the directions).

Also - I don't think you lose that 10% anymore for customizing. I am pretty sure they took that fee out of the game.

Re: Orange Tile Preventing Commit!

The tan tiles, for some reason, are on every floor, but they aren't tiles that I placed. I think they are guides for the actual layout of the base relative to the current floor, so you know how far you can go and such. Just got home and am updating the 2d client, so no solution yet.

Re: Orange Tile Preventing Commit!

Okay, problem found. See the tan tile inside my first floor NW corner? I went to 2d mode and there was a portion of stairs, one tile, about second or third part of step, that was preventing the house from being created, from what I can tell. Odd. Testing the spiral stairs now in 2d versus kingdom reborn too.
