Very nice...
I was taming in Jhelom when I ran accross anothet tamer. Lady Amber We talked for a while... Then she offered me a free house!! Of course I wasnt going to say no. I just started back and had nothing. My first thoughts was, I bet it's in fel and she has a pker etc.. turned out it was in tram by the Yew Crypts! So, I tagged along and she ended up giving me an 11x13 for free. Pretty amazing how kind of a person to me.. After she gave me the 11x13 she asked me to go to the newer house she had purchased. So, I went along and followed her to her newer and bigger house. While I was there she asked me what my skills were and I replied Magery and Taming. Then she ended up giving me a 100% LRC suit free. I mean WOW! How nice could someone be? It blowed my mind. She was'nt super rich just very kind. I don't have a screen shot of the house she gave me and cannot get one right now, because im at school. I had to post this tho and in the housing section because Its all about me getting that house... Sorry if this sounded like bragging.. if it did it wasnt ment to be recieved in that way. ![]() |

Re: How nice can one person be?
I actually had two different people help me out in the way that you did. I was in New Haven a few days back to actually playing the game and someone asked me if I was a lucky person... free house, pretty darn good location and huge. Then in Luna Bank a Gimp Stealther gent helped me out with gear that I fear I don't even know the true quality of it. 100% LRC with a staff of the magi or something around those words and I do pretty darn well with just 75 magery.
Nice people are out there, just few still have the motivation to help out others. Many thanks to those who have helped me and those that continue to help others. Aurora |

Re: How nice can one person be?
Well you got me beat with that Staff of the Magi
![]() The best way to do things in UO is to remember Karma and to make it happen. " What goes around comes around" So' if someone does something nice for you. Return the favor to someone new later on. If someone kills you return that favor also ![]() |

Re: How nice can one person be?
I could probably be rich in-game if it weren't for the fact I prefer to give stuff to new players than sell it for profit most of the time. However, I must admit there IS a small selfish side to these acts... With the number of players quitting the game, and the high learning curve for new players, softening their arrival to UO may go a long way to keeping them playing, rather than having them give up before giving it a real chance. That said, I have also just walked around NH bank passing things out to random strangers, new tag or not.

Re: How nice can one person be?
I used to go to New Haven and give out a cheque for a million gold to young players sometimes- no wonder I was always broke

Re: How nice can one person be?
To Walk with the Virtues and not upon them has always served me while playing UO.
Many Genererous acts of kindness have been bestowed upon me by virtual strangers during my 8 plus years involved with the game and I do my best to pay it forward. Alot of quality people play the game and its always refreshing to interact with the like. -IronHorse GM Forge of Virtue Governor of Trinsic Last edited by IronHorse; 2nd February 2008 at 03:56 PM. |

Re: How nice can one person be?
I gave away a beetle on Sonoma, only to have the recipient reward me with a piece of the Assassin's armor set.
Not only does being generous help keep new players, but it might pay off in unexpected ways! |

Re: How nice can one person be?
Recently I was given a Beetle to aid in my lumber carrying. I was draggin around two packies. I then had someone give me a swampy to help protect me.
Someone else has given me some items to help with my archery. And while I am not a new player, but a vet, it warms to know that no matter what people are basically kind. (Even though for the most part I don't like humanity much, given a few exceptions) I return the favor, I gave a nice young player the best suit of armor I had (Mismatching pieces, but the best I could give) I also made her several items out of reward cloth. I also gave someone a bow I had just made. One of my best to date. (besides the major expensive ones, I gave the Nightreaper I made to the hubby) In doom someone gave me a Frostbringer. When I first started out, there was a guy on Ice Island who gave me everything I ever needed to survive. I still have most of it. |
