Glass Display Case

Before I go on, there may very already be a way to do this that I am simply ignorant of. In which case, I blame it on my absence from UO and you can laugh at me. That said...

Wouldn't it be nice to have a new piece of furniture called "Display Case and Pedestal" that looks kind of like the cases in NPC shops? Each Case could have a pedestal next to it with a book on top of it. The case would be a container and could be locked down in your house. The book on pedestal can't be moved but can be opened and written in by the owner before being locked down.

I want this container, when locked down in a house, to be able to be opened by any visitor and the contents to be allowed to be viewed by anyone. The book can only be written it by the house owner and no items can be moved in the display case gump, except by the house owner.

Visitors can read about and view items/rares/armor sets inside the display cases. I think it would make for a good house add-on for collectors to display neat things to the general public in a more aesthetically pleasing way.

Re: Glass Display Case

well what you cold do is the so called storage table (writing table on a crate). and than simply lock it down instead of securing, anyone can enter it but they cant take stuff out

There is a podium that can be crafted that you can stack things on. I think i've seen people stack books on them.

Also you can lock down a book to be viewed by others or written in by others. To keep it from being written in I think you need to seal it with a red leaf.

Red leaves are obtained from certain red plants you can grow, and the podium is crafted with carpentry.

Re: Glass Display Case

there is a way to make a display case. in design mode use the half walls for the part you want to make the display case then raise the single square goza mats up to the top of them. once they are raised you can place items on the gozas to display them

Re: Glass Display Case

I wish we had "real" display cases.

Sarsmi had a cute idea of using stacked silver coins and cloth pieces or gozas to make a display. I used that concept in this design. The coin stacks were a total pain to work with, though. When I made changes, I caused part of the stack in the southeast corner to sink and just never bothered to fix it.

This is my community center house. The chests on pedestals have books and items in them for display. The containers are locked down rather than secured, with "anyone" access, the items become locked down when placed inside, and the books are sealed with red leaf as already mentioned so they can't be written in. I have that arrangement for the public access lockpick training chests & keyring sets on the porch as well.

Re: Glass Display Case

I use the cornor pieces to the walls for the poles and then use the goza mats...works great

Re: Glass Display Case

Yeah, another version of the display cases was with the SE floor mats and the thin dark corner pieces as poles.
