Aurora's Design
A thread dedicated to keeping me from posting various build attempts in multiple threads. I seek constructive criticism on anything I may post as I am finding it a difficult process designing a house. First floor is attached, it is my fifth or so attempt. I plan to have keep with perhaps some beams hanging over the pet stalls and the SW room will be my smithy/crafting area with easy access via door that looks like wall for the heavy ore stacks. SE corner room.. no idea yet, both will end up going up into towers though while the side portions of house will be two floors only, depending how high I can get the front two towers with a roof on each that looks nice. Putting up a rough draft of floor two to give a better idea of end result.
*EDIT* Added Floor Three. Really looking for some thoughts on this bare bones design. Aurora Last edited by Aurora; 1st February 2008 at 09:03 PM. |

Re: Aurora's Design
Well I realize now why people don't leave holes in the middle of their 3-4 story house like a big courtyard.... damn design is trash lol. Back to square one again.

Re: Aurora's Design
If you still want a "keep" try setting the walls one tile back from the towers.
If you want higher towers and donīt need the space on the top, you can create an optical illusion of extra floors by "stacking" south-east corner walls (like a series ov "v"s). Once saw a pic of a 9-story lighthouse done that way, really nice. And yes, holes can be a pain. I have a 2nd floor atrium, but only with flat-roof above it. Re: Aurora's Design
Yea, I totally scraped that design I was on sadly, still a beginner at the design process any ways. I am currently going to try and have two levels of stone/mountain and build a one story house on the top. Stairs will start in the SE corner, go up N a flight, up west a flight and finish going up N another flight to the house I believe, will have to see how it fits. The house I will probably make out of some sort of non stone building, probably white plaster or something around there. On the front wall near the sign I will have a door, that I wish I could set to owner/co-owner only, that will lead right into my crafting area as my house is surrounded by mountains.
