Why Devs Don't Interact More
Player: Point is....make a time table for something. if you meet it...great..if you dont..explain to us why...
JIB (UO Engineer): When we post that we are directly working on a feature there is then an expectation that it will be completed and released in a timely fashion. This isn't always the case, often schedules change due to many factors (time, resources and money being major ones). Often it is better to not advertise what we are doing until it is a sure thing.
Imagine I posted that (for example only) I was making a pre-ren shard or completely updating the graphics engine. Then a couple weeks later I said "whoops! sorry guys, this has to go on the back burner...", could you imagine the outcry and negativity? Heck I would be ticked off too, no one likes having to break promises.
So for those reasons we are required to be fairly discreet. Player: 2. The recent posts of doomsayers and well wishers about uo dying has gotten me (maybe others?) worried. Some info would be nice.
JIB: If I recall, there have been doomsayers for the last 8 years (and there probably will be for the next 8 ).
