We may not always like the way they run things or the sched. they run them on, but for all the pissing and moaning these last few months about how "Dev's aren't doing #$@% about dupes...Waaaa", We were wrong. They were doing something and frankly I'm impressed with the action, both on the duped items and the account age probloms. Good job folks and I hope others follow suit.

Agreed. The funny thing is, its one of those situations where if you tell the public what's coming that's basically like giving the enemy a heads up on your attack, considering the enemy(dupers) are part of the public. The Devs had to bite the bullet on this one and keep quiet till they were ready to go, and they did a great job in doing so. I applaud their efforts, and I thank them. Good riddance to the scum of UO, also known as dupers/exploiters/liars/cheaters, whatever you may want to call them, they won't be missed.

You are 100% right. You have no idea how hard it was to see the "The devs don't care!" posts regarding duping and not say anything at all that entire time.

But in the future (and please feel free to refer back to this post anytime you want)...

If we're planning on banning dupers or other types of exploiters, no matter how many people complain about how we're ignoring their questions in the FoF each week, no matter how many angry emails you send about how we suck, we're NOT going to talk about it ahead of time!

If we would've said one single thing about this, all of the time we spent on this would've went down the drain, and there wouldn't have been a nice announcement today, because the bad guys would've scattered like roaches when the lights come on.

No, it's far better to smash roaches in the dark.

Then you can turn on the lights. :-)

You hear what you do wrong or badly alot on these forums. I for one am not slow in pointing out faults. But I would like to think I am as fast in pointing out a good job as well.

Grats and Thanks Devs.

Both for the recent duper bust, and for everything done so far this year... it's been a turnaround year for UO and it really shows.

Sure there are still portions of the game that need attention (PvP and Factions namely), but overall, the game has taken a HUGE turn in the right direction.

I agree there , these are the day's you just feel , "the dev team is here to chew bubblegum and kick ass ...and there all out of bubblegum" (RRPiper quote) , just makes you feel like UO is a few steps away from being back in big leagues , well sorta..

Hope this trend continues and we see 300k + players by this time next year.

Yeah they are doing great. I really hope that they see these threads and realise that we have been noticing and do appreciate how things have been these last few months. They have been doing some good things and keep doing more. UO has definitely taken a step up

EA's did nothing good

For one everyone of the 'dupers' will be back

They didn't fix all the dupes..i've already had icq's laughing from ppl that stil know how to dupe

And they banned alot of ppl that did nothing

Also i logged on and my Ornament and Inquisitors were just gone

PS : Thanks to GM Spada for the long warning before the shard went down. The europa peerless boardie group was in the middle of a travesty when GM Spada gave a warning about the shards going down.

What is not mentioned though is that out of 400 duppers, only 25 or so were from the major shards and a couple here and there from the less populated shards. So not many was banned.

As for items, you can bet 90% (90,000 items) was from the major shards and only about 10% from less populated shards. So this means that very few items were actually removed from any single shard.

Out of the 1 trillion + gold, again 80% or so was from major shards while rest was from smaller (less populated) shards. But with the gold, it only amounts to 1 gold coin out of 1,000 gold coins or maybe its 1 out of 10,000 or even 1 out of 100,000 gold coins that is in game. So even though 1 trillion sounds like alot, its just one very small drop in the ocean.

But I do feel it would be fair to ban any and all dupers rather than a few that duped certain or specific items, since a duper is a duper, no matter what is or was duped.

There will always be cheaters in UO but this is a very good start like Tabbitha said.

I will admit I was wondering if EA really had care for UO, I am fairly new at the game pretty much anyway and no matter where I went or go there is saying Dupers here.... dupers are doing that... people saying it is easy to indentify duper objects (I STILL can not figure that out. I even read the thread but still don't know... but doesn't matter) So got me wondering about them...

But I am very happy to hear they are atleast trying to reduce this... I am always so scared I am going to find or buy a duper object without even knowing it... I probably will never figure it out but that is okay if I want or need something I usually go through someone to have it "crafted" so I know it is offical... or least I think that would make it offical maybe you craft duped items too >_< I do not know much about it... ah well

Just happy to hear EA does care for UO! ^_^
