Trade Window Bug

I recieved an ICQ with a warning today about a Trade Window bug that seems to be happening, so please be careful.

So there isn't any way in avoiding it? So basically don't make any big trades for a while?

As a general rule you should never accept items for trade in a container. Always ask the person to remove the items from the container and drop them individually in the trade window. Yes, this will make a mess in your backpack, but it will avoid getting scammed by the less than honest players out there.

Is this only on things in a container? Or on everything in general?

I don't know any direct info myself...but here's another post from Stratics that might help..

They basically can create a ghost image of the item in the trade window and have the item pop back into their backpack. You will see the item there but you won't be able to hover your mouse over it for a tooltip or even see the name. It's just an unrefreshed image of what was in the trade window prior to the game restricting that item to be placed in trade window.

The item in question was a container of dark energy from umbra university (blue lantern) You know who you are~ lol. Dupes and now scams. Some "Collectors" these days make me laugh their entire "collection" of goods is just paid for through the sale of exploits, dupes, and scams.

Back in the past collections were something to be proud of. Something you worked hard to achieve, save for, and place on display. What can you be proud of knowing that you earned nothing legit and had to lie, cheat, and scam your way to getting the gold. Might as well just ebay all of the gold and buy the things and claim you are a true rares enthusiast. It's almost better than the first choice many have taken.

Anyhow, back to the normal topic.

Items known to be buggable in trade window:
Non leather containers: wooden boxes, crates of all sizes, lanterns (that are able to be shut on and off)

Be very careful when dealing with potential scammers. IF a deal is too good to be true it usually is. Just be sure you ask them to open the containers for you to view, make sure you hover the mouse to check every item and see you get a tooltip to pop up, and if they refuse to do that or use a vendor as most scammers will, then you prevented yourself from losing a nice chunk of cash.

When in doubt:

1. Use a reputable 3rd party on your shard to broker the trade
2. Have the seller place the item on a vendor
3. Don't trade

Thanks for the warning. I've always been too paranoid to use the trade window, so I've always used a vendor when buying/selling stuff.
