Tamer changes are up on TC4 tomorrow

here is a preview! from UO Tamer

The NDA is lifted

9. The formula for controlling a tamed pet currently is based on 80% Taming, 20% Animal Lore. This will now be changed to 50% Taming, 50% Animal Lore so it requires more of a skill commitment to reliably control a tamed pet. The formula for actually taming a creature will remain unchanged.
10. For controlling Lesser Hiryus, a player character will now need at least 90 Bushido (the same required to ride it) or an appropriately high skill level in Animal Taming and Animal Lore.
a. Success chance for control is determined by whichever skill set is higher (i.e., Bushido or the combination of Animal Taming and Animal Lore).
b. The chance to tame a Lesser Hiryu will remain the same.

They also changed the Rune beetle Armor Ignore . Now it will drop the enemy's resists by 50% vice 100%...Should make the peerless a little harder!

Thoughts anyone...I think it looks good

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have done some testing on TC4 and I have to say that doubling the taming requirements and adding 10 does not get you what you need combined in Taming and Lore.Unless I was reading wrong it looked to me like they were saying that a nightmare with a taming difficulty of 95.1 woud take 95.1 x 2 = 190.2 +10 = 200.2.So 200.2 combined in Taming and Lore will allow me max control over a nightmare according to Leira's theory.
I set my Lore to 120 and my taming to 81 which gave me 201 combined taming and lore and I could not get the mare to listen to me.I fed it after every command and it would not listen.I tried the same with a Kirin commanding it until it broke free and not once did it listen.
At 120 lore and 86 taming I had the kirin listen a few times, but it didn't listen more than it did.
At 120 Lore and 88 to 89 Taming I got a more cooperative Kirin, but it was still not MAX control.209 points combined and still not max, so doubling the difficulty and adding 10 did not get the number we need for max control.
I'm planning to do a lot more testing and see if I can better get a handle on how the changes are working.As it is now I'd be inclined to believe that they changed more than just the split between Taming and Lore.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Ok it's official.

Either the changes have not been applied to TC or they DO NOT work !

I created a human tamer fittingly named " Twink " and set off to tame a Kirin ( 95.1 Difficulty) to run some more experiments.Kirin are the same difficulty as a nightmare just much less painful if the revolt and you have to retame them.

I had previously set my lore to 120 and worked back from 120 taming to see how low I could go and still retain reasonable control of my Kirin.I noticed I began to hear barking and it neglected to listen just about the range the taming calculators said it would.This seemed kind of weird since they supposedly lowered the percentage of taming needed to control and upped the Lore.

Next I set my taming at 120 and proceeded to see how low I could go with my lore and still retain decent control.Since Taming and Lore are a 50/50 split now I should have seen my kirin bark and begin to reject my authority about the same numbers I had with the Taming test.

Guess what ????

I was able to run my lore to 0 and retain full control of my kirin.Not 1 time did it reject a command.I fought the poison elementals that spawn by them for a while and also clobbered a few earthies and mongbats just for fun.

So the moral of this story is that either they completely borked the changes to Taming and Lore or they didn't implement them.Considering taming still made up a majority of the control of my kirin I'd have to say they haven't changed a thing at this point.I would assume that the 80% taming control was still in effect and since you will hardly hear a rejection to any commands with 80% control it explains why I thought I was at full command.

Just to test this theory I left my Lore at 0 and began to drop my taming and when I hit 115.0 I began to get rejections to about 1/3 of my commands and at 110.0 I had less than 50% control.

So maybe we can get someone to come here and give us an answer as to why the changes are in the patch notes for TC and they aren't actually implemented yet.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So... the changes aren't on TC4. The Hiryu control changes are, but not the taming/lore proportion changes. We're not precisely sure how... but we'll get that fixed and I'll post on the website when it's up.
So, are the changes up on TC4 (like the subject says), or are they not up (like Jeremy says)?
For the regular person playing the game, how is that going to affect the pets I already have in my stable?
Re: Tamer changes are up on TC4 tomorrow
so I don't have a tamer, but using ((TamingR) x 2) + 10 formula
a Cu could be controlled 100% with 115 lore and 100 taming
or 107.5 lore and 107.5 taming?
This is the formula that will be published on the TC?
Re: Tamer changes are up on TC4 tomorrow
Well using the formula ((taming)x2)+10=lore+taming . I get (101.1 x 2) + 10 = lore + taming or 212.2 = 106.1 taming and lore
Re: Tamer changes are up on TC4 tomorrow
What happens to those crafters that don't have taming but use a beetle to haul stuff or a fire beetle while they are out mining. Does this affect them?
Re: Tamer changes are up on TC4 tomorrow
I may not understand the tamer life style. But doesn't this make taming easier? I mean lore has to be easier to gain then taming. granted it takes more skill points, but now you don't have to grind taming to Leg.
Re: Tamer changes are up on TC4 tomorrow
Santi as far as I know it will not affect pets that require no taming to control
malk it will help tamers yes but hurt those who want just enough skill points to control a high end pet for PvP (at least this is what I think it will do). Since they lowered the percent of taming from 80 to 50 those players will either have to raise there taming skills or drop them from there template all together
Re: Tamer changes are up on TC4 tomorrow
I have posted a calculatore for the new formula ( no longer a straight average) in the tamer forum. It actually has some GOOD news (until the realize it and nerf it).
