(Spoilers!)Small pieces of Hidden Patch content (Spoilers!)
source taken from UO.Hall
(Spoilers!)Small pieces of Hidden Patch content (Spoilers!) In case you didn't see it in the title, this thread could potentially spoil any future content that EA release. Please do not read any further unless you accept that. If you have a problem with this, then don't read on. Just to cover myself against those who post "Heh you suck you post stuff that spoils it for everyone I quit *deletes chars* Anyway I swear they have removed the "Localisation Updates" from patch info just to fool me. However, it won't happen. Unless they remove localisation! This patch we have a few more strings! Only two, really, mind, but unless they were thrown in just to make me look like an idiot they look (well one) pretty spoilerish! First one! I really would love to speculate on this, but I dunno if its really going to be implemented. 1076796 recovered from ~1_val~ (Blackrock Infected) Possibly a tag from someone (or something, as its usually name, not val, for a person) that has used blackrock? The next 1076797 - 1077177 are just blanks.. well.. they're tab indents. Then just.. lol. 1077178 [End of Super Secret Text Area] Hrm. However, this is even more interesting... ![]() Shadowlord, perhaps...? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Good to see your "patch radar" is in full working order. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Quote:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If they didn't, they certainly need to start putting in entries to throw people off. We shouldn't know what is coming ahead of time, and posts like this shouldn't be made. That's all I'm going to say on that. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Personally I get annoyed trying to figure all the possible keywords with some of the quest npcs... nice to cheat a bit You don't have to read spoilers if you don't want to... Nice work Trev! This is proving you're the Royal Explorer ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I bet you complain about the sectios in magazines that say what's going to happen in the soaps It's human nature to want to know what's happening, or going to happen. For those of us that want to have a few hints ahead of time, there are these threads. For those that don't want to know ahead of time, the thread are labelled "spoiler" Could it get any simpler? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ OP I normally don't reply to this kind of response, as it generates flames and could lead to a lock, but someone else I talked to just questioned my motives for posting. Theres various aspects to it. First of all, I agree as the level at which you might think that we shouldn't know in advance. I totally agree - for some content (like events) that we should not get spoilers and find out ahead of time about things that will happen. Sherry's dialogue I found and posted the night before they even exposed her. This was a bad idea. On their part. Why do I not think it is a bad idea on my part? Well, its simple - EA have put these things on our PCs and i'm finding out what it is they have introduced. Why shouldn't I see what they have put on my computer? There is no reason why not, of course, and equally no reason why noone else should. You may think its down to other people to find out - which i'm sure anyone (given time and patience to find out how and to refine the techniques into a simple 5 -10 minute job) could. I am posting my findings, for anyone who does wish to know. This "anyone" could be: - Those who haven't a clue how to find out at all, but are curious and don't have the time or ability to do it themselves (I have done some things that have taken me a long time - I have way too much time on my hands) - Those who know how but it would be tedious and take up too much time - Those who don't know that there is anything new, they see the thread, the title gives it away and they think "what the hell, I can't be bothered to do this, this guy has already done it" Ultimately, it is really down to EA to fix this if anyone thinks its an issue. I think its an issue, in a sense. I am natually curious, so I will pick apart anything they add or change. But I also want to be wowed by something new. Saying that, I also find the scope of their new content somewhat undefined - IE you don't know how much or what will happen in a given week (take this week - as far as anyone can tell, Ricardo has been moved and thats IT - beeswax is up, yet other times there have been a lot more eventful things that requre player interaction and solving of clues). One thing to bear in mind, however, is that this is incomplete scraps that we find on the client side only. Some things, like Sherry's and the Time Lord's dialogue, is really really simple to understand - I saw it and thought "Wow cool, that is going to happen, ok then" - other times i've seen things and thought "Well, that doesn't really tell me much... I wonder what they have planned." mainly due to the content being largely server side. I guess this could also be me making a protest - a stand - against their localisation; cramming as much as they can into the client side so they have to do far less in the way of client-server communication. It does lessen the load but every time I see an "ERROR: MEGACLILOC(-0131722832)" it makes me realise how this is just another initation of a string embedded on my computer. There is no sense of something new being shown. Something they can change in an instant - something dynamic. It requires a patch to get new content. My big moment of "WOW SOMETHING NEW" is every patch - that is the time when the event content, in many respects, is introduced to me. As I said above, each time you see text displayed in-game, its just the server calling out a string from your files. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I think they should have put this instead... 1077178 [End of Super Secret Text Area, you can stop looking now Trev] LOL thanks again Trev...as always your awesome spy powers amaze me..keep up the good work! I looked through the clicloc files once...there are some pretty funny things in there...one was like.....due to your superpowers you were able to overfill the keg...LOL funny stuff. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Quote:
The following was considered instead: 1077178: To see the Super Secret Text, just print out this "blank" section on a piece of normal paper. You see, we wrote this in lemon juice! If you hold it over a flame, the secret message will be revealed! But... uh, there are some people who might actually... yeah.
