So whos in a stew ? [My fun post ot the month]

source taken from UO.UHall

Comment

I'm decorating a house, trying figure out where to plant my boiling cauldron. Every time I axe the thing it leaves a pile of stew behind.

###############################

Looks like you got a defective one with a hole in the bottom.

#########################

I know blaming it on the dog is cliche but....

#########################

I've had stew under my sign on test since the cauldrons were available.... sent in a couple of reports about it, tried everything I could think of to get rid of it, but it didn't occur to me to warn anyone cause it was on test. Sorry, Greatfellow, hope they fix it for ya.

....... in the meantime, watch where you step

#########################

If you go into customization mode, I believe it'll just kick all of the stew piles under the house sign.

#########################

Yeah, hoping yer right about the GM. I'll wait til I'm sure I have the cauldron down in its final location, though.

You know, I'm trying something else to fix it tonight: "I wish to release this" on each of the stew tiles. First I'm locking them down; there is no confirmation that they are locked down, but when I release each one of them afterwards, I'm getting the "(no longer secured)" message. Hopefully that will get rid of them come server up. Of course, I can't change the lockdown status of the item under my house sign, but I'll be happy to get rid of the ones in the house to begin with.

By the way, once I locked them down I was able to use the decorator tool on them to raise and lower them. heheh. Lil stew frisbees...And also by the way, I had five stews stacked on each other on one spot on the third floor, where I had repeatedly placed and removed the cauldron...

So, to clarify, if you redeed, place, and redeed again, it leaves the little fake-vomit pile both times?

##########################

When you redeed, it will leave the animated stew graphic behind. When you replace the cauldron elsewhere, it generates with an all-new animated stew graphic - all the while, the previous stew pile is still where it was. You can keep redeeding and replacing, and every time, leaving stew in your wake. The leftover stew piles cannot be moved, destroyed, redeeded, or anything. But they do continue to boil...

OK, QA's on it

#########################

OP.

Jeremy, I have seen some real nice EA/community interaction in recent times, but I must say you have taken the art of quick and cogent questions and answers to a whole new level.

#########################

LOL! Man I love your pics

#########################

It has to do with axeing it while it is still secured.

Place Cauldron, while it is still secured, axe it, the stew remains.

However, if you release it first, then axe it, no stew is left behind.

#########################

Orvago, that's a new national policy, right? "No Stew Left Behind"?
Sounds like one.

Well, unfortunately, it's too late for me to do the smart thing that you suggested. So I'll just hang out and feel dumb. maybe play a lil frisbee with RexDarkstorm's dog.
