So how is it going in UO nowdays?

source

How are the player attitudes towards UO today?

Has the Dev team given any hope for you?

Do you still think UO will make a comeback?

Has anyone from EA come here and given you anything to believe in?

I for one wish some commitment were shown toward UO.

Read the thread called "ok, Siege is not on the radar" again.

It has all you seek.

...

Only speaking for myself...

1. 10th anniversary drops are in (ToT-style in Legacy dungeons) and are a bit slow on Trammel, though I have hit a decent stride dropwise (though only in one dungeon). SO some initial dislike, some issues raised, settled down though. Planning to be a permanent system with proposed additions and changes to follow.

2. It's been slow on the Patch front, but KR is going to get a big one next week and according to the audio of the town hall, the 18th is apparently going to be a big day, so we'll see there.

3. Also according to the town hall, they say they're planning on returning to the events that were running on a weekly basis and are going to build on that.

4. There are some aspects with the Mythic merger that are really ancillary to UO itself that I find unsettling and don't really like, but not a whole lot I can do about that.

5. Personally, I'm plugging along in KR just fine... it's playable, still buggy in places, but I've been really smooth throughout the 10th anniversary hunting I've been doing.

If the attitude of UO were considered to be something like a financial market (say housing), it seems to have gone through a bit of a "correction" over the past month or so due to the apparent slowdown of content and patches, hopefully it's due to pick back up.

~~~~
I for one hope you are right. While I was sad to read about Darkscribe's departure, I know that there are still others (ie Draconi, Cathat, Jeremy etc) that are still fighting for us. While I was not thrilled with the 10th Anniversary events, what I have seen so far for the upcoming Halloween and heading into the holidays (more regular/weekly events?) things definately could be on the upswing. Let's bring the *fun* factor back into the game so we can stop losing people and get some positive word of mouth going like back in the old days.
Hrm, I did have hope until KR went public and I got to see what it's really like (as opposed to the fantasy client I'd hoped it would be).
I can't see UO Making a comeback at this point, what little developer resources they give it are involved in something few people want. At least that's my opinion on the matter, not like they ever actually did much... or if they did they never finished it *insert your favourite dev content/quest/story here*.
10+ years of experience kinda leads me to believe that it's "glory days" are over. They've kinda gone out of their way to kill the innovation UO Had as an MMO, and only add in the same garbage I don't like about other MMO's.
The more time passes, the less they kinda show us how little they care about the players. I think EA purchasing Mythic was a horrible thing to have happen, I used to really like Mythic too... but EA has a habit of destroying brilliant companies, and driving away brilliant minds. EA/Mythic is kinda turning UO into the 'Madden' of the MMO world.. or at least it really seems like they are trying to.
~~~~

If UO was your dog, then you'd shoot it out of kindness. No one wants a slow lingering death for something you cared about...

~~~~
*Yawn*
Mods, please move this post to the "Doom and Gloom" forum.
You would shoot your dog?!??!
Same as usuall , We want changes , but not willing to lose anything or give up anything for a change for the better..
Has the Dev team given any hope for you?
So-So , UOKR seems to be the client of the future , alot of work seems to be going into it, Little confused as to the whole : UOSA , is it coming or is it cancelled..
Do you still think UO will make a comeback?
Not unless they mass market it , improve alot of systems greatly (crafting , Factions ,cheaters )
Has anyone from EA come here and given you anything to believe in?
Not in a long time , ( Sorry Jeremy) Since Binky and Wilki left us , it seems to be more excuses , but I must say work is being done..
I for one wish some commitment were shown toward UO.
Agree there , UOKR is a start , but need more , we need something to bring in 100k-200k more players...
Hey, Wilki's still here!
Regardless of my usual harsh cristicism of Jeremy there is NO [ I bleeped this out ] WAY I believe that Wilki or Binky did a better job as a community rep.
Binky rarely posted, and stopped posting altogether after pretty much after raking Siege over the coals. In addition, I can't back a man who got paid pretty much just to dress up like an obese ninja. IMO you might as well work at McDonald's and wear a Grimace suit, its the same basic concept.
Wilki does not have a personality (imo) suited for community type work. In addition, he picked and chose what topics he wanted to deal with. Does no one recall waiting months (I do mean MONTHS) for just an answer regarding the winners of the Haiku contest? Bleh.
By far and large Jeremy has done a much better job than her predecessors the past few years. She has maintained her composure better, she had kept the community informed more and she has tackled a few 'edgier' questions.
Is she perfect? No, I believe she could do better (again, IMO)... but to say she is worse than those before her is really, in my eyes, an insult to her.
Re: So how is it going in UO nowdays?
I meant it more as since binky and wilki left us as comm. reps ( that time period) , it seems like we have been fed more excuses to not fix stuff that has been broken for years (by no fault of Jeremy , she has UHALL to deal with , thats A huge plus in my kudos book)..Sorry if it came out wrong will drink one less cup of coffee next time..
....Now if she will just get on somebody to fix our thieves......
To quote Sanya - "He’s not a community guy, but he’s a hell of a designer."
So no, he's not a community type.
I do think Jeremy does a good job, but I can't help but feel it's EA's lack of interest in UO that's to blame.
She can only do so much with the resources she has.
She's replied to the vast majority of emails I've ever sent her and apologised for how long it takes to either get a response, or for the delay in getting back things like interviews.
Although I must admit, I still can't fathom why it takes 9 months for 2 interviews.
Re: So how is it going in UO nowdays?
Jeremy's job is a nightmare. I think she does it well. From past experience, I know that position requires a number of hats and you take all the heat. I hope they pay her well!
Hmm working on KR's trees? Would that be in responce to the complaints of the "over growth"? Nice add that to the candy comments and I "see" the efforts of a lot of listening appearing.
