Skills - Generalized overview
source taken from UO.UHAll
Comment read the very long list [utl=http://boards.stratics.com/php-bin/uo/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=6944290&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1]here [/url] ######################################## Jeremy_EAMythic UO Community Coordinator What, and you don't even have Herding on the list? ![]() That one's always been my favorite example of a truly bizarre skill. ######################################## Actually Herding can be very useful, you can round up creatures to kill them. During the treasures of Tokuno, I saw herding used very creatively to maximize time and killing. ###################### Jeremy_EAMythic UO Community Coordinator Really? That is interesting - I've never heard anyone talking about using it. ############# Yea i've used herding for ages, as have others. Its outdated and noone on development seems to care about it, but tbh not hearing about its usage is no excuse. The game was built with lots of skills, so why focus only on major combat and crafting? If you wanted to know if people used a skill, its not hard to find on these forums. Tell you what I want - I want a use for my 85 Taste ID and GM Arms Lore as well as my friend with GM Item ID and my mum (hmm) with high forensic. ################ I am pleasantly surprised to see that nobody has yet refuted your ranking for Taming. I almost immediately expected to see posts of " Taming is too hard, skill should be easier to gain and control slots should be increased by 5+ " ... and I will readily admit to all - I am personally biased against tamers, because I can't see the sense in having a part of the game play the game for you... and Yes, I had one until its deletion. Just my opinion , please only flame me once to keep the thread on topic. ################## Well, personally, I think the training difficulty is a bit.. wrong. Not so much in difficulty, but how it works. Since the only way to gain is to tame and release/kill animals it's a rather sensless way of training. I think it would be a more reasonable skill if you gained while -using- pets. Things like chances to gain when your critter kills something, scaled by targets difficulty, or even feeding your pets (No chance if pet is already happy, plus maybe only a GSS type gain per day). Surely there was to be a way to gain in the skill by, you know, being a tamer instead of a butcher or weirdo ####################
