I was under the impression that Sherry was going to be an upgrade in terms of how NPCs act and react to others.

The thing is... Sherry is incredibly rude. She only talks to the nobles, and refuses to even give a hello to ANYONE who visits the castle! She has a long string of things she is _supposed_ to say, but doesn't. She DOES say she is tired. A LOT. She even snores sometimes around the castle, NOT when she is on her pillow.

If a Dev (esp Draconi) reads this, could we know whether that lil mouse is sposed to talk, or is she just acting like one bad rat?


It was neat how she'd reply with a "Hail, [name]" if you said certain greetings around her. Now she doesn't seem to respond to anything, and it's too bad. I don't see why they couldn't leave that on, unless it's some kind of strain on the server (boggle?).

I still want to know what "...kersplash!" is all about. Hang around her enough and she'll say that.


Well, she is a High Society mouse that has been living in a castle for many years. You know how them high society types can be.


Seems like after the first evening she appeared on LS she's been silent (other than her "proximity barks" to say hello to NPC nobles).

No interaction with her at all.

Bummer that.

In Ultima VII, Sherry works as an assistant in the Royal Nursery in Lord British's Castle, and she reads a poem to the kids called "Hubert's Hair-Raising Adventure." The word "kersplash" is in this poem. It's is a classic poem from Ultima lore, and makes an appearance in more than one Ultima game from the series.

It gives me the warm fuzzies every time I see good old-fashioned Ultima in UO, especially something as obscure as that. Very nice!!!

HUBERT'S HAIR-RAISING ADVENTURE

Hubert the Lion was haughty and vain
And especially proud of his elegant mane.
But conceit of this sort isn't proper at all
And Hubert the Lion was due for a fall.
One day as he sharpened his claws on a rock
He received a most horrible, terrible shock.
A flaming hot spark flew up into the air,
Came down on his head and ignited his hair.
With a roar of surprise he took off like a streak,
Away through the jungle to Zamboozi Creek.
He leaped in kersplash! with a shower of bubbles,
And came bobbing up with a head full of stubbles.
At first he just stared with a wide-open mouth
At the cloud of black smoke drifting off to the south.
Then he felt with his paws just in back of his ears
And he suddenly realized the worst of his fears.
'I'm ruined,' he shouted, 'oh what'll I do!
I'd rather be dead or go live in a zoo!
And if anyone sees me, oh what a disgrace,
So I'd better discover a good hiding place!'
