Sanya, will we see Team Leads like DAoC? It would go a long way to some organization/
source taken from UO.UHall
Comment Sanya, Ever since the split, the player base has been divided quite literally. Its Tram vs. Fell, PvP vs PvM etc.... What one wants the other cries nerf to them and vice versa. Its not a healthy way to grow the game. Everyone needs to be on the same page. Its not going to solve all the issues or make everyone agree by any means but it is a step in the right direction. Right now, if the player base has an idea or a bug it it quickly drowned out by the masses. I think the team lead program DAoC has would be an excellent way to communicate with the dev team and have the player base get some positive answers on things. Refer to this link on Team Leads if you are unfamiliar with the program. Quote:
I think everyone could agree that would be a good way to get our issues to the Dev team. What do you all think? ######################### ...in ensuring that Camelot remains stable, balanced, and fun to play. DAOC didn't live up to this part. That is why I left after 3 yrs of play. I always felt that the Mythic Devs NEVER listened to us but rather implemented what THEY thought was workable. Therefore, I'm back with UO. ######################### I played till the first expansion, I was a Champion and we had LOTs of up and downs, we wanted some stuff worked on and what didn't was at least shot down. We did get fixes and issues address, not all of them by any means but we did get things worked on. At least with this way it is a way to get our pressing issues for that specific skill, or area of the game, addressed and commented back to us. This dev team is heads and shoulders above the past incarnations as far as communication. Leu, could be the dev the TLs speak to. ######################### I would rather they took their suggestions from the community rather than have a few players with lots of power to suggest things. So, I strongly disagree with the Team Leads concept. ######################### [i] It would be staggeringly more 'messy' to try a team lead approach to UO, because many of the problems that contribute to imbalance arise from unexpected - and sometimes frankly bizarre - skill combinations. Right now, if the player base has an idea or a bug it it quickly drowned out by the masses. Agreed, that is often the case - but is the best answer team leads who are almost bound to be seen as many as 'unrepresentative' or biased, or a properly EA funded and moderated forum? (Not a dig at Stratics, that's NOT their role!) [i] ######################### SanyaEAMythic Director of Community The Team Leads in Camelot are people we rely on. There hasn't been a patch note in over two years that the TLs didn't at least see before we posted, and they usually influence the decisions. They represent their communities pretty well, too - we have multiple ways of getting feedback, and if they are reporting an issue that's not registering anywhere else, we talk to them about it. Mainly, TLs help us sort through the kind of crazy, super-specific feedback that you have to be a longtime player of a certain class to even understand. There's the problem, though - "class." Y'all don't have a game that fits into a Team Lead spreadsheet. I'm planning a different system entirely for Warhammer. And it could be you guys need your own system, too. But I don't know yet. I don't want to jump in and throw around big wacky ideas in what is Mythic's first month with the UO community. Something you've done without for nine years is pretty huge. One thing we ARE setting up is a feedback system for UO players. It's a little more reliable than counting posts on a message board, lets every player have a say without being drowned out by more passionate writers, and tends to be pretty level headed since the feedback isn't being written for an audience. The downside is that we don't reply to these forms, so you still have to hang out on a message board for personal contact. But the upside is that we read every form, so every "vote" counts. (Obvious attempts at stuffing the ballot box are deleted.) Then we tally everything up and make a nice pie chart for the devs. We even track how long a particular issue has been on the chart. The Camelot devs love it, and I'm hoping the UO guys find it useful when we finally get it posted. Check out this link for the general idea (but don't USE it, guys, you'll get your own before the winter holidays) I've been sidetracked, haven't I. Um, I don't know yet about a TL program. We're starting with new communication styles and feedback systems, and then see what other feedback needs you guys have. ##################################################
