without posting all the dates and everything, here are the results of sacred journey:

*minimum skill 15*

**my skill 68*

kept pretty good record over about 2 weeks:

attempted: about 680
successful first try: 36
successful second try: 97
successful third try: 54
successful 4th or after (did not count anything after 4 tries in my "attempted" column): 48

i did have one time that i swear i hit it like 15 times before it worked.


i don't mean to be a crybaby here, but don't you think 68 skill should be enough to get it the first try EVERY time?

anybody else have problems with SJ?

I have problems all the time and I'm at 55 chiv. I recall when at 40 or so it never failed =/

something sounds a little screwy. i have (personally) always had sacred journey work just like recall. it stopped failing around 50-55( those points come fast, so its hard to tell exactly where it stopped)

i am at like 70 or so( i think its actually like 68.something) and havent had a failure in ages. I do fail however, very very often, on remove curse and cleanse by fire. I compare cleanse to cure, and well, i dont fail at cure, but ill be damned if i can get that cleanse off before my bandage( 6 seconds)

Sacred Journey should cast 100% of the time (assuming the location you are SJing to is not blocked, and you aren't disrupted during casting) at 65 skill.

I am at 65 chiv, and I never fail on SJ's - at least, I don't ever notice failing... Are you sure it's not something karma-related (glorious lord here)?

Karma shouldn't matter in this case, and yes, it *should* be 100% at 65 skill. I'll nose around and see what I can find out. In the meantime, is that actual skill or are you using jewelry?

If there is some difference (between jeweled skills and real skills) in any skill can we please get some sort of list as to what skills and what the benefit/penalty is? Perhaps if nothing else for 5 on Friday. I am unaware of any indicated differences between using "real" versus "jeweled" skills other than "if you can't tame it you can't bond with it" for high level pets and even then you can bond if you wear jewelery that gets your skill to that level.
Some clarification would be wonderful!!

Somebody else who has been around a long time, can correct me if I am mistaken...

This is one of those oooooolllllllldddddd bugs, been here forever. If you are opening your runebook and hitting the blue diamond, it will fizzle, and lots of time take the mana and gps

Has to do with the runebook, set that rune as default, and cast SJ on the book, and you will go almost 100% of the time. Long ago, one of the Devs came onto atl at vesper and looked at quite a few of our books, to see what the bug was. It is because they are prepatch books (can't remember which patch LOL, been waaayyy too long ago).

The solution we were told, was to make your destination default and cast on the book, or else get new books...yeah, kinda p*&^% me off, cause I like the books I have, made by friends who long ago left the game.

But give that a try, and if anyone else has any info on it, I would love to hear it

I think that there is a bit more to it. If you start training chivalry from scratch, you will notice many times that you gain double skill points. I do not mean gaining .2 at once, I mean use the skill once and you get two lines each saying gain of .1.

Somewhere, I think that there is a double skill check on the casting and you have to sucussfully pass both skill checks to sucussfully cast the spell.

Please check... very old bug (as old as chivalry!).

I got that a lot on healing. Just as you described, was quite a while back tho.
That too, might be an answer, but my experience was, when I crafted new runebooks, (post-patch, as they called em) there was no more problem. *shrugs*
