"Reduce display framerate" option won't stay unchecked

source taken from Bug Reporting Forum

I've hit "apply" and "okay" to try and fix this and it doesn't help. Every time I start the client for the first time, it is checked again for all characters. I can uncheck it, log out, log on with character 2, uncheck it for them, and log back in on character 1 and it is still unchecked. It's only when restarting the client that it seems to reset back to checked.

This seems to be the only setting that is doing this.

I do not want this on! I didn't even realize for a long time that it was on, and once I turned it off, my performance increased GREATLY. Now I have to uncheck it every time.

Strange, this stays checked and unchecked for me. Try modifying the uo.cfg file and locating this line:

and

There are several things that do this. You turn them on to try them then can't turn them off again.

I changed the colour that hostile creatures show as, now I can't change it back.

I think it may be connected to having 'use default desktop' checked on some characters. I thought when I changed the colour I was only changing it for that character, but it was changed universally for all our characters.

Ando suggests the following.

Strange, this stays checked and unchecked for me. Try modifying the uo.cfg file and locating this line:

ReduceFramerate=on

Then change that value to "off". Save the file, launch the game, and see if that makes it stick.

Odd bug with uo.cfg... and very important to know...

You MUST change it in each uo.cfg (per player) not just the global one in the root directory.

Additionally, uo.cfg (global one in root) will copy the last set up from your last log in, and if you make a new char, they copy from global setting... (works the same for macro.txt)

Also, in uo.cfg is another bug conserning tree cannopies... if set to "off" you will not be able to chop trees in fel.

I also find it rather annoying that there is no real setup wizzard for a cfg file that players must access, especially one as confusing and bugged as uo.cfg
