Lately I have seen players attempting to get you to take a bag filled with junk that puts you at 125 items in your pack, each time they use persuasive ways to get you to take it. I’m assuming they snooped you first, Next they attempt to talk you into pulling a item from you paperdoll so it will drop on the ground where they take it and split. I have witnessed people losing very expensive items from this.

My suggestion is to make it so you get a visible warning that pops up just before you pull something off your papardoll and exceed the backpack items limit.

If the developers cared about it, it would have taken priority over some of the other nonsense fixes they've been putting out. Clearly it didn't. Let's face it. They're way too busy not fixing PvP to be bothered with something like this.

I love that scam.
Only because I have won in the end from the guy trying to do it.
Someone was trying to get my hat of the magi when they first where out.
In order to win my confidence he said he wanted to transfer some important stuff to another characture. So he gave me some high mod jewelry for the time.
He then said here is a bag. And it had all that hidden gold coin crap in it.

When he switched i noticed the bag and dropped it on the floor.

Asked him when he came back with the new characture what he was up too. I knew what he was doing. Anyway to end the story. I gave him his bag and kept the jewelry and said you knew what you were doing. Please... He just walk off.


Someone tried to get my ethy too. Said there is a rare version spelled a certain way blah blah. Also gave me a bag. Tried paging GM to show what the guy was doing but no one came. Didnt get anything good though. So its a scam that will be around a long time.

I've had People try all sorts of grifts and try to convince me its a 'get rich' scam/exploit and all i had to do first was take this huge back of keys and junk... Uh no thanks.


That being said - Makes me wish had the stats to drop a deadly trapped box in such circumstances.

I was very dissappointed with CatHats glib remarks. This is an old scam that should have been fixed a long time ago. Unfortunately it is the players abusing the game mechanics that help ruin any community we could have in game.

But this is not a get rich quick scam. This is someone pretending to want to swap stuff between characters. I used to hold bags for folks in Haven a lot for switching purposes, back when housing was impossible to find. Nowadays with everyone trying to scam everyone else I wouldn't dream of trying to help another player.

It is a sad state of affairs for UO and there really needs to be some bug fixes. Unfortunately your answer doesn't give me much hope for the Dev team to fix anything anymore.

Doesn't the amount of objects in the bag register in the trade window. This is an old issue. I do wonder if 'fixing it' might not be something which creates more issues than it fixes. I am in agreement with CatHat... 'don't take candy from strangers', 'look before you leap (accept bag)' and "buyer beware"... scammers are always ready to catch someone who isn't paying attention to things around them or who is new in town.. just the same as IRL.

I think what they do is just keep trying to lower the amount of things in the bag until someone can handle what they are trying to trade them. Til they stop getting the messege they cant handle a trade like that or whatever. Like if they cant handle 120 items, drop 1 and try again til it flies. Not sure, that is just what I imagine they would do, as this crap is scum and I would never imagine trying this on someone, and would scalp anyone who tried it on me!!

Not the same subject, but it's fresh in my mind. I checked in on my daughter's account to water her fishies a few minutes ago. Checked wrong character, and had to change up. But in the meanwhile, the beetle she was riding said couldn't move due to fatigue. I got off, checked to remove some things and found it only carrying 530 stones of weight. I tried again.. same thing.. I removed 200 stones of weight, still said fatigued. Did they change the load weight or something? That's going to suck royally for mining. I need to go check in on mine and find out if it was some fluke on hers.

As far as I knew, it was 600 stones they can carry without fatigue.

well... it said his load was 530.... dunno... I never get on one that has more than a couple hundred.. As I said.. this was my daughter's account and I think her husband was crafting and left it loaded when he checked out.. It just seemed since it was only 1/3 of the capacity, it was too soon for fatigue on one that took like 5 steps with the player mounted.
