Ok, Siege is not on the radar.

source

*tips hat* EA stated we are not on their list. I heard it live. I am done trying to get EA to see that Siege is worth the time. If you want to visit with me, I will be on my shard forum. We few and proud. Fare well my U Hall friends.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is news?
~~~~

In all fairness kelmo siege has been secondary to UO's team for a long long long long long long time. Sorry. :\

Besides, weren't you just talking on another thead recently about people staying positive in regards to UO? So... cheer up!

~~~~
I think UO in general is not on EA's list.
~~~~

What happened Kelmo? Can you tell us exactly what was said?

~~~~
I listened to part of the broadcast. Someone asked if the devs were considering making changes to Rot to help boost the population of Siege and basically the answer was no; no plans in the works for Siege. This might be what torqued him off so badly. I didn't listen to the whole thing, so there might have been something else that I missed.
~~~~

I think Kelmo has finally seen the truth and it's difficult to accept.

He went to the Austin Town Meeting, where there were lots of Siege players in attendance. After meeting Draconi, Jeremy and others, he came home convinced Siege was important to them. That Siege would be getting some much needed attention in the very near future.

After hearing Draconi's words during the Town Hall meeting yesterday, it became abundantly clear that, at least when we are face to face, the devs tell us what we want to hear.

He had faith in what he was told in Austin. Thats the kind of person Kelmo is. He will take what you say at face value. He will trust that what you say is true, but after hearing last nights town hall discussion, the reality of the situation has finally set in.

I don't know the exact words that Draconi used, but to the ears of Siege's biggest cheerleader, whatever they were, they were deafening. I've spent most evenings over the past 2 years, in vent with Kelmo and I have never heard him as upset and disappointed as he was last night.

What exactly do you want?
Every time some new change is proposed, the siege people whine and !!!!! until the devs give in and don't put that change on siege.

From what I get, you guys want the server to be as close to pre-uor as possible and any change is unacceptable

So what do you want?

~~~~
I think one of the main things most Siege players want is the blessed items issues resolved, such as the CBDed items, ninja belts, IBDed items, and more.
Many of us would also would like a significant change to ROT, our skill training system, so that it doesn't take so long to finish a character on Siege. This would increase our population a lot.
There are a number of other things we want too.
Most of all though, above anything else, Siege players want the dev attention we deserve. We want the promises made to be kept. We want Siege to become and remain the shard it was meant to be, without all the trammel bleed. Basically, we want the devs to fix Siege now and not break it in the future. That's what we want and I think that is a fair thing to ask for.
That's the only thing I heard in there that could have given rise to Kelmo getting so annoyed, I really think it's something not clearly said and then not clearly heard... I'll try listen through the whole thing again to make sure, it was about 1AM local time so I was pretty tired when the original was broadcast.
Couple of other things though - people have mentioned 'Draconi said', it wasn't him at the town hall, it was Nick Corea "Dragon Head" and Derek Brinkmen "Supreem", and if you want to hear what was said, as some folks mentioned earlier in the thread but it seems to have been overlooked when people came to this later on, Adam at UOForums has the whole thing as an mp3 you can download, here .
Edit - Think it was this exchange, 1 hour 33 minutes 20 seconds in, question from Majere -
"Do you plan on making any chages to the RoT system on Siege to help boost it's slowly dwindling population?"
Answer : "There are no particular Siege plans that I know of but Leurocian would be interested in that..." [/quote]
Guys, there is a LOT of unneeded drama in this thread. Let me clear up a couple of misconceptions:
- Draconi didn't say anything about Siege. Draconi has an alibi - he was busy blowing up Magincia all weekend!
- The only question that was asked about Siege that I can find was about the RoT system. We do not currently have specific plans to change the RoT system, although there has been some feedback that it's too big a barrier to entry. It's something we can definitely look at, although it would require some substantial research and opinion-gathering first.
- We're not abandoning Siege - as a matter of fact, Wilki has a fix in testing right now for some of the clothing arties that should not take a CBD that currently do, and he intends to make further tweaks and fixes as he gets the chance.
