ive just had my name stolen from me, by a GM !!!



ive been playing this game since sept of 1997.

i really enjoy it.
graphics are crap compared to the new big games.

but i have allways enjoyed it.
i deal with life and death everyday at work.
and this game has allways been my way to get away from it.

so tonight.
my wife and kids where watching Land Before Time, for the 10th time (how kids can do that i have NO idea) and i decided that i would go to the Trial Event that was going on.

now, ive never been one to go to events.
but i went out last week and caught the tail end of the one that was going on.

so i thought id go see this 'trail'

so i went into the yew jail and was assigned my seat.
it was kinda funny.
i was sitting there next to my old friend who is a Mod on stratics now, and who gets put in the seat beside me.

never met the fella.
dont ever really care too.

but i thought it was funny, cause we were dressed the same.
but, seeing as how the court room was getting full and i had a real nice seat, i stayed put and prepared to watch the event.

some time later my kids where heading off to bed.
so i walked away from my computer thinking, if i dont get back in a few minutes, it will just log off on its own from inactivity.

well.
i came back and logged on.
and wow.

my name had been raped from me by a GM!!!!!

i must admit, in all the years ive played this game, ive heard of things like this happening, but never thought id get to witness it first hand!

now, like ive said, i have played this game for years.
i am Poo.
thats my name.

i have Poo characters on EVERY SHARD IN THE GAME and have had for years, heck, my PBDs are my proof.
heck, i have valinties that where writen by me in my house!

anyways.
i get back and my name has been changed for me.
changed to "Wengstien"

now, im a smart fella.

i can see how my name might SEEM bad.
but its not.
heck, its the word we tell our kids to call Poop poo, cause we dont want them walking around saying SH!T everywere they go.
so heck, it cant be that offensive if we teach our kids to say it!

so after my fist initial outrage, my friend who is a Mod was nice enough to point out to me that the name they had renamed me to was very unusual.

so i looked at it.
and ya know what... i have never seen a name like that in game.
it sounded allmost Jewish.

then it was pointed out to me that the fella i was sitting beside, who, and lets be honest here, is hated by pretty much all of Sonoma for going what.... being anti semetic.

so now im looking at the big picture.
i was sitting in a GAME ASSIGNED SEAT an the event.
the fella next to me is a known trouble maker and a anti-semetic.
and me and him are both dressed in the same robes of umbra.
and my name gets changed to a... and lets again be honest... a very jewish sounding name.

so i page a GM.
canned messgae.

so i page again.
canned message.

so i send off a 3rd message, and in it i go OFF

i get sent to jail.

so now im in jail.
and a GM comes in and starts off by telling me that he didnt do it.

not really the introdiction that i was expecting.
he then goes on to tell me how to file a complaint.

so i go off on him.
and we go off on each other.

and at the end of the day i name has been raped off of me and i am left Poo-less.

i feel disgusted with the game.
i feel dirty.
i feel betrayed.

this was the place i came to get away and relax.
and now the luster is gone.

they took my name away from me, and wont even tell me why or who.
and in return they have given me a name that i do not want, in a game that i have no urge to play now.

tomorow i will post some screen shots, i took about 100 dureing my time in Jail.

This is just beyond absurd. One stupid punk pages on you, and they change your name? They won't deal with the stuff that should be dealt with but they will deal with such an inoffensive name that kids can say it, because one immature person decides to page on you? But we can have "CRACK !!!!!" and "CHILD LABOR" running around in the game.

Jeremy, you care to weigh in on this? Maybe give us an explanation? This just doesn't seem right, that one person could cause this kind of grief to another player over a word like "Poo." What WAS the GM thinking?

Oh, this is almost too easy. First you purchase (not in-game, but from UO) a change name token, then change your name back. Then you file a small claims case against them for the cost of the token, plus time involved getting and using said token. Throw in a little extra for the distress caused by being intentionally assigned a jewish name while seated beside someone you assume to be anti-semantic. Could be the most fun you've had in UO in years.

I hope Jeremy_EAMythic UO Community Coordinator will at the very least let Poo know why his character name was taken away.

Hope he gets his name back with a backpack full of shi...*ahem* poo for his troubles.

What about the name Winnie the Poo or Poo Bear these are stories most of us read to our children. If the Name generater allowed him to use that name I would have to say a GM has no right in changing it.

It's Winnie the Pooh. Poo is just not as loveable and cuddly as "Pooh".

Anyone who would get offended by this name needs to take a long look in the mirror and evaluate themselves and their own life for a while.

Anyone who thinks that I might be wrong, do a MyUO search on Poo on any shard you like. They will have to make ALL of them change their name...

Thing is as one poster on their said.Theres a LOT of rly unnacceptable names ,which are mentioned on the above link.[I'll not rename them here ,I cant even bear to type therm tbh.]

Until names like that are removed ,EA have no right imo to remove some thing as weak a problem as Poo.
