![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | not gaining resist spells source taken from UO U.Hall I took the quest in New haven and I bought up to 40.0 it says to go fight spell casters but I'm not gaining after 2 hours New problem , chiv only gaining 1 point at a time in old haven , with the quest and under 50 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Welcome to the wonderful world of Resisting Spells. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ a tip, try casting protection on yourself. it'll lower your resist by 35 points. if you don't have magery, that's not a problem. just go to the mage shop and buy a scroll and you should be able to cast it no problem. if its for a quest, you may need to cast it again to toggle it off so that your resist goes back up. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I'm not sure of the formulae, but I'm pretty sure that to get resist gains, you need spells cast on you by a mage of similar Evaluating Intelligence to your Resisting Spells... If I'm right in that, then I'm thinking that the utter lack of Evaluating Intelligence on the Spectral Spellbinders is the problem... ![]() edit: and... now I notice... that lack of magery? Do these guys cast spells via some magical workaround that allows them to cast without magery? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ thanks, and this is just stupid , is this a bug , or intended? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ During my testing, I noticed this as well. I have a fix for Resisting Spells vs. spells like clumsy, weaken, curse, mind rot, etc. In other words, any spell that debuffs stats and so on. What the problem is currently is that these spells have a flat difficulty of 90.0. Past devs did this so a player character gain up to 120 resisting spells by getting hit by these types of spells. Well, the problem with that is 90.0 is too high for newbie characters. I made a change that should allow smooth gaining on the low end as well as the high end. This fix is queued and is currently being tested by QA. Patrick "Leurocian" Malott Game Designer, Ultima Online EA Mythic ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I'm sure you already know it, Leurocian, but I want to point out just to be sure... This change was probably implemented to fix the problem with Resisting Spells not gaining above 90.0 on Siege Perilous. Don't forget to check that your new fix doesn't break Resist gains on Siege again! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *nods* the way I did it was ensure the difficulty always equaled your current resist level for debuffing spells. That way, it's always treated at optimal difficulty (i.e., 50% success rate). So it should be fine on Siege. Actually, the spectral spellbinders use a different method of casting spells since they only cast debuffing spells. They don't stack spells like certain other creatures do. I added magery to them internally. So that should be tested soon. Patrick "Leurocian" Malott Game Designer, Ultima Online EA Mythic ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ![]() ![]() | ||
