Re: LRC Status

Having just come from a pre-AoS shard (sorry OSI ), there are pros and conns to insurance.

We never had magic items to this degree, but pvp was less about pvp, and more about just killing your opponent and clean looting them.

Insurance makes pvp about fighting and skill (i wont get into it, but spamming Holy Light macros and some other things imo isnt skill), if you removed insurance, the really rich would wear their average suits whereas the poorer would have to wear crap, until eventaully everyone just keeps millions of gc of stuff locked at home.

The idea about making reg users give more damage is a good idea, but consider how that would effect RPers such as CoRE? LRC suits are banned in our pvp and mages are already overpowered!

Instead...nerf the damage LRC suited spells do!

Re: LRC Status

hate to say it, uo is a shadow of what it once was, and yes, if you remove insurance, everyone that has spent hours and hours collecting the perfect pvp suit will just up and quit....guaranteed. but......

if you enjoy pvp, and i mean real pvp, and not this item vs item crap, then come to siege. on siege, i guarantee you won't see anyone running around in a suit that cost them 200m to buy, nobody runs around with a crims cinc, hat of magi, or staff of magi. everyone here has one blessed item, thats either a really nice weapon, or a scrappers for mages. the rest of your gear is either gm made or junk you find off creatures.

on siege, you don't have to have 200m+ in gold in order to compete with the best pvpers. grab your favorite weapon and go kick some butt or get it kicked, and if you die?..... pick up another set of gm armor and try again.

if crafting is your thing, then siege is the place for you, here you lose everything everytime you die, so ppl are always looking for armor, weapons, consumables.

just my 2 cents

Insurance is bad.
LRC is bad.

However as the game is, removing either of them is not a good idea. You have to change the way the game functions before you can change something it relies upon heavily.

Still we loom in the mists as the ages roll away,
And we say of our folk, "they are here!"
That they built us and they died and you'll not be knowing why,
Save we stand on the bare plains of Wiltshire.

Re: LRC Status

well said deraj. There IS no going back, not for all existing shards. A new shard, perhaps. BUt I think people forget that there were just as many gimplates in the old days as in the new, but warriors were less of an option. Remember the double-hit hally trick? Or the LJ extravaganza? Or the corp-por fest the game was? If anything, old PvP was even more cookie cutter than it is now!

Re: LRC Status

dbb hally hit trick wasnt that bad.. the explo precast dbb hit combo was hard.. and only the skilled players survived this one.. There was ways to go around it.

LJ or.. tribal spear fun... Just showed who didnt have skill in pvp. about 90% of those that used it.

old pvp wasnt more cookie cutter.. it was fairly balanced imo mage duels was awsome. Will never get close to that again.

For to win one hundred victories in one hundred battles is not the acme of skill. To subdue the enemy without fighting is the acme of skill.

Re: LRC Status

Stop insurance in fel? Then let me attack blues in tram

As a red its hard enough without getting ganked by 4-5 blues at the gate on top of losing my stuff because of it. A bonus to regs is a good idea, it allows lesser skilled players who are mostly blue to get a slight advantage and persuade some of us experienced players to get an advantage with a disadvantage.

Bandies being insured? LOL you dont have chiv? How about you make chiv require regs and then allow bandies to be insured. 4 second heals are nothing compared to two chiv heals to full life. A mage without regs has NO way to heal(unless they have chiv) , a warrior without aids can still heal. Although, aids being insured would not bother me one bit because all my spells are free with my LRC suit. On the field my mage carries aids incase one of my guildies who requires them goes down. I would doubt that a warrior is carring a bunch of regs for me...Make 10%damage increase to aids while using them or something.

With the new pub if all goes through, casting and specials are nerfed...healing and specials arnt. So you can heal and special away...fair?

Re: LRC Status

Oh, I have Chiv, but I'm saying it is not absolutely required to have it. I have a chiv only 4/6 dp/ninja/Holy Lighter, that doesnt use bandaids. But there are those warriors out there that have say, bush/ninja and no chiv, and still make it out thre, but if you are in the middle of doing a spawn or something, and your warrior gets killed, and then rezzed off somewhere, and more guildies need rezzing, you dont have the bandages to do so, and it hurts the team. I think an insured first aid pouch would not hurt anything at all. everyone else has something to help them get right back in the game, why not warriors.
