| Lighting Changes Will Be Addressed, Eventually Player: The windows in my large tower no longer have moonlight coming through them at night. What changed and when? I have colored lighting turned on, as always. Where are the light rays??
This stinks.
Player: It had to do with the new housing tiles. Every custom housing tile since AOS has had the light facing in the same direction. Grimm: True. Player: So instead of going through and assigning the correct light facing to each window tile they removed it. I wish I didn't report that bug now. Why should we report bugs if they opt to remove stuff instead of fixing it? Grimm: The lighting issue actually runs a little deeper than just that. The problem is that the tiles used in the back of the house are the same as the ones used in the front of the house. As it is now, you assign a "lighting style" to the windows on a per tile basis. This is why the light rays shown out at the front, and in from the back. At the time, we didn't have a way of updating the "lighting styles" binary, so we couldn't fix the bug by adding new art. So the only way we could fix the bug is by replacing the rays with a glow instead. And as far as the question about removing it instead of fixing it, we did fix it in the only way we had at the time. It wasn't a final solution, but one that satisfied the requirements at the time.
I realize that this has had an effect on how some folks have been using the light rays, but just bear with us, we're aware of this issue and I'm sure we'll address it in one way or another. |
