You know, it just came to me, I mean I been thinking about it, but it finally coalesced into final thought: I just don't think EA went far enough in their graphics upgrade.

Mind you, I liked Baldur's Gate 2 graphics, which is what this UOKR upgrade reminds of, but those type graphics aren't really much of an upgrade. Still a 2D feel, in the end. Now that I've seen screenies for awhile of UOKR I've begun to think: This ain't much.

Honestly, I think UO could have gone to a Return to Castle Wofenstein (RTC) grade of graphics, which are great graphics that run on older machines, very much an atmospheric and 3D thing. RTC had these requirements: 400mhz pentium II, 128mb RAM, 16mb video card. Anything made in the last five years or maybe last sevn years will play it. And it looks great.

I guess what I'm disappointed in is that UOKR isn't really an upgrade to 3D as we know 3D today (or as we know 3D since RTC). UOKR to me, is like a 15% visual improvement that involves a whole client replacement, when we could have gotten a 100-200% improvement with a whole client replacement that didn't ask us to have really modern machines.

I guess now that the novelty of the 15% improved graphics has worn off, I'm sitting here disappointed.]

They had to do something to justify the merger with Mythic. *Ding*I know lets use a modified engine of DAoC and just dumb it down. Brillant! And there was much rejoicing.

Very skeptical of the upgrade, they keep posting pictures and people keep eating them up and then when others point out the problems. What is the answer? Oh do not worry thems alphas or betas pictues, it will not look like that when it is done.

Could we please have a picture that is completely finished? Do not bother answering, I know that answer, it is the same one we get with every expansion/anniversary/upgrade, they need to be polished up then they will be great! do not worry you guys are gonna love them.

They wouldn't be publishing these pics if they weren't what we will be getting, largely. I agree with the original poster completely.
Also, I don't see how graphics equate to "Ultima". Ultima is about story and lore, not the image that represents it. Otherwise we'd all be calling for the near stick figures that the original Ultima game had.
