Jeremy,is it next week yet?

Cellmate wasnt sure what week it was so asked

So Jeremy, Is It Next Week Yet?

Just a little reminder Jeremy.

~~~~
Jeremy whilst sympathetic had nothing new to post.
I know everyone's waiting for some more forward-looking details - we're putting that stuff together even as I type. Look for news next week!
Cellmate:
So will there be any info on Stygian Abyss, KR patches/publishes & what kinda shape the Dev team's in - new faces, EA support etc?
Jeremy: Yup, should be lots of stuff coming next week.
You did make these comments in last week's FoF thread(Malice 123's thread that is, not Larisa's), wouldn't want it inadvertently slippin' your mind, don'tcha know!
So far it seems the only noteworthy news from within the EA Mythic/UO team has been the departure of Stormwind, which was not forthcoming from your end, but from Admiral Ruffie, who spotted it elsewhere. And that hardly seems all that encouraging really, does it?
~~~~

And the intro of Chrissay! Come on, now

We're in the final stages of approvals for a letter from our Development Manager (he'll explain exactly what that is) but we're trying to get some things hammered out so he can do something more productive than *just* introduce himself. It's taking longer than I'd hoped, unfortunately.

Re: Jeremy,is it next week yet?

** UPDATE **

Well, part of the point of the approvals is to make sure we don't say something
that conflict's with someone else's plan (or budget, or whatever) making the
statement essentially untrue. Unfortunately, some of those plans are still
in the final stages of being determined, so we can't say ANYTHING and be
confident of it being true.

Other than Draconi? Is still brilliant.

What thread would be complete without a post from

AesSedai
She gave us plenty of insight & information within this very thread.
Did ya' just miss that or is the glass never half-full for ya'?

LOL your idea of insight and mine must differ quite a bit.

'I have nothing to say right now' --- usually I do not relate this as a berth of information. I suppose we must agree to disagree.

dhekke posted in support of Jeremy's reply with

Gotta agree with AesSedai here...
Jeremy actually said what's beeing done inside EA_Mythic...
We know now there's a letter coming from the Dev Producer, said why the letter is not done yet and how does it work for it to get approved.

We got more insight on how this work in this thread alone than the last 3 months probably...

I actually like where this is going

~~~~
AustinRules tried to point out
It's probably still a little chaotic there. Having to move, buy/rent, get kids in school. Recent bosses gone. All kinds of devs and GMs gone and have to be replaced with newbies that need to learn a little UO culture.
With all that I still wish we had a KR patch. It doesn't have to be big,
in fact the big ones bring more problems that are hard to find and fix. But they have also said they don't like to put out patches on Friday in case there are problems. I was looking for it today so now I guess there will be no patch this week?
~~~~

Heartseeker wasnt happy with the answers given

Basically we get more spin doctoring.

The excuses are getting thin.

The move, holidays, yada yada.

Unless the move took the last two years then I don't buy it.

As JC stated before; no expansion for over 2 years.

But hey, if the glass is half full for you great.

Arcus is right calling it cloak and dagger material.

Just getting the new guy to tell a story won't cut it.

We have had alot of those lately, and they have left the building.

More devs quitting; ya it's all good.(sarcasm)

lysarius managed to get some feedback though by posting

If you really want to turn around the image of years of neglect, missed deadlines, failed promises, and paranoid excuses for not releasing information...

Start by just sending an announcement that we have a development manager, who it is, and what they do. It sounds like you actually
have the info to do that now. Then follow up as soon as possible
with the additional plan info. If you wait until you have the "super answers all questions letter" you will have missed the opportunity to give us what you know now and instead given the same old... "just wait"... "boy if you only knew"... "soon"... etc. If you are waiting for budgets to get approved and other things, its not likely the the "Super letter" will really be out "soon"

~~~~
A bit more insight came from
Well, ok: Yes, we have a development manager! His name is Cal,
he's a good guy and an old-school Ultima fan. He's currently chomping at the bit waiting to post his actual intro letter, but we're waiting on one more key decision to be made so that he doesn't
have to cut the actual informative bit out of the letter entirely.
It's not that we're hiding anything from you, it's that we need one more set of schedule estimates to make some intelligent decisions, and we're working on those estimates right now. I know it's late and slow, and I'm sorry - I'm dying to get past this part and into the good bits, too. I get lonely without patch notes to keep me company.
lysarius responded with
Thanks for telling us what you can now. It IS appreciated.
That was fast too!
If this keeps up I may actually have to stop being so cynical
*EDIT* I appreciate you replying to the thread but the information will reach more poeple and do the game more good if you put it in the FoF
~~~~

onthefifty tried to calm the pessimists down

Y'all need to calm down.

You should have saw this coming given the holidays and the move clear across the country. Stop and think of the stress and trouble that the good people of UO were asked to undertake packing up one's whole life during the holiday's no less.

Surely your game play has not ceased because you haven't seen new content since magencia?

go fill bods or rid ilsh of para a wryms or just sit down and be quiet.

bah

~~~~
lysarius made his pov a little clearer.
I fully understand the shakeup from the move. However, most of the issues with the game have nothing to do with the move. They were around a LONG time (years) before the move and unfortuneatly they will likely be around a LONG time after the move.
- No advertising, a web page that doesnt promote the game to visiotrs, no shelf presence (This "marketing strategy" predates the move by a long shot and hints at a company that sees no potential in UO. Go look for UO on the EA website.)
- A graphical overhaul (KR) that had the potential to revitalize the game that was released in such a bug ridden form that it has driven players from the game. (That decision was made long before the move.)
- Two years with no major expansion (predates the move by a long shot)
- Lack of planning for things like (xmas, halloween, ... the 10th anniversary) so they "Sneak up" on the development cycle
- A string of expansions that have been released with serious balance issues that are either still unresolved or took YEARS of complaining to get the dev team to address
- Scripting and cheat programs that have been running unchecked in UO for YEARS
- A mind bogglingly long list of outstanding bugs that are several years old
- Months without any word from anyone who has any authority about the futures plans for UO
- A player base that is dwindling to nothing (Largely because of these types of issues)
- Need I go on?
These issues have NOTHING to do with the move. They actually probably have a lot to do with brainless corporate screwups very similar to the blog posts Jeremy has been linking.
I sympathize with the hard working devs in UO, but at the end of the day that doesnt change the fact that because of corporate screwups that the devs have no control over UO has been adrift and sinking for years.
MAYBE EAMythic will be different ( I sure hope so) but given the track record of UO development its hard to be optimistic and trusting.
