Jeremy confirms the "tree/stump hack", is illegal

I asked for clarification on the matter, as some people claim GM's say it's "OK" to use
Jeremy wrote back and gave me permission to quote her.

(d) Official Service. Ultima Online has been designed by Electronic Arts for play only on the Service. The Software is licensed to you for play on the Service only. You further agree not to create or provide any other means through which Ultima Online may be played by others - for example, through server emulators. You may not reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the Software, including any proprietary communications protocol used by the Software. You acknowledge that you do not have the right to create, publish, distribute, create derivative works from or use any software programs, utilities, applications, emulators or tools derived from or created for Ultima Online unless specifically authorized in writing by Electronic Arts.

UO Rules of Conduct

10. You may not modify any part of the Ultima Online Service, Ultima Online code or Ultima Online Web Site that Electronic Arts does not specifically authorize you to modify.

The above two sections clearly state that modifying your game client in this fashion is a violation of both the Rules of Conduct and the Terms of Service. The intent of the modification does not matter, as no permission has been granted for any end user to do so. Under no circumstances should a player alter the client in this fashion by use of 3rd party program, or any other means. Modifying your game client can result in action taken against your account, up to and including immediate Termination of the account."

Yea, there's alot of things in UO which are considered "grey areas".

Doesn't help when you have different webpages which say completely different things

Earlier I looked up info on the purple sigil items, the last recorded entry on UO.com, says they're very much illegal
Yet, the same search on the EA support site, says they're aok.

LOL, EA lies. Ultima Online was NOT designed by Electronic Arts it was designed by Origin.

I was thinking Jeremy as in the crow from Nimh and I thought it is a "guy" only type of name...

Err I mean I knew that! And wasn't someone talking about stumps here on the forums not to long ago in the PvP section?

To me its kind of obvious that changing tree details to appear as stumps would be illegal. However, its one of the minor things in the game, at least you still have to run around the stumps.
