Re: Historical Reenactment: Blackrock Pillar Battles on Test Center ...
LONG POST source taken from UO.Hall[ check out all the screen shots, too many to post here ] Hello everybody! For those who missed the epic battles upon their own shards, or perhaps would like a second chance against the unknown foe that guards it, Test Center will be hosting several battles throughout today, Sunday, August 27th. Scheduled times (All PST): * 12:00 PM - Total time: 15 minutes, 21 seconds * 3:00 PM - Total time: 9 minutes, 54 seconds * 6:00 PM - Total time: 16 minutes, 47 seconds * 9:00 PM - Total time: 15 minutes, 12 seconds These events will occur at the Umbra arena, and is open to both spectators and participants. A black moongate is available in Luna for anyone who would rather teleport and utterly fear walking through the woods outside Umbra. Mages should remember that "An Sanct Flam" will bring down the barrier flames if spoken aloud by a Grandmaster+. Note: The blackrock pillar battle does not generate any loot except blackrock pieces, which can be found scattered on the ground after the battle. PS: Post screenshots ^_^ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Draconi, you know what we wrote in the Drachenfels Forum to the event. I feel like repeating what was written there, but I think you will get the hint if I just say: Sunday, your time (PST) +what, 9h? It´s 20:50 here (8.50pm) and I´m ready to go to bed since I have to work tomorrow. Even though you might have meant it well: Either keep on digging or just let us forget this whole issue, please. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Draconi UO Designer The irony here is that I only got the idea to do these reenactments because I met a bunch of people from Europa and Drachenfels early this morning on Test Center who wanted to try it again. Pretty soon it was obvious that we should try to get all of TC involved, and ran it about three times before we announced it more formally on Stratics. I did read the threads on both shards' forums, though. I'm sorry you feel like you're missing out, but for this particular instance there isn't much more that can be done. We'll keep what everyone's asked in mind though. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Wilki UO Community Coordinator Draconi is doing this all by himself on a Sunday afternoon just for fun, on his own time. Should he totally rearrange his sleep schedule and then call in sick tomorrow, or just not do it at all since he can't be "fair" and give everyone the chance to experience it during prime time locally? You're playing a game where the developers all live on the west coast of North America, so I think it's a bit much to expect us to tailor our personal lives around a timezone that is 3/4's of the way around the planet. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I have missed this twice now on Europa, sadly, so can only enjoy everyones great screenshots. It looks an awesome event to of been at and having once been involved in a scenario, based around an in game 'black gate' it would of been even more special for me personally. I am sure if I had of been able to attend I also would be sending out a HUGE thankyou to Draconi also,[ not that I am not saying thanks anyway ] " Draconi is doing this all by himself on a Sunday afternoon just for fun, on his own time. Should he totally rearrange his sleep schedule and then call in sick tomorrow, or just not do it at all since he can't be "fair" and give everyone the chance to experience it during prime time locally? You're playing a game where the developers all live on the west coast of North America, so I think it's a bit much to expect us to tailor our personal lives around a timezone that is 3/4's of the way around the planet." Wilki I dont think anyone is saying anyone should 'totally rearrange his sleep schedule and then call in sick tomorrow, or just not do it at all since he can't be "fair" and give everyone the chance to experience it during prime time locally?'...at least i hope they arent.!!! I think the problem for us Europa players is that we more often than not only ever get to read about these great events, and it becomes a bit harsh after the umpteenth time,to know yet again, we have missed out on some thing simply because we live in a different time zone. Neither should we be expected to 'totally rearrange our sleep schedule and then call in sick tomorrow,' but rather hopefully a workable solution be found As I am led to understand an EM can only execute his/her shards events when a [stateside living ] GM is online ,which again puts both the EM and general player base on Europa at a disadvantage also. So ,my suggestion is ,can the EM not be given the 'GM abilities ' to run EM events therefore removing the need to fit into stateside times zones.? I am sure no one here,I certainly am NOT,is meaning to be unappreciative of any of the recent efforts the Dev team have been/are doing to make the game better. We just want to try find a way we can take part in some of the great stuff ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Wilki and Draconi I reallyreallyreally appreciate your hard work lately on a real great new UO *sparkles* we will be having soon. REALLY! *hüpfsproing* But... Somehow 'we europeans' (or at least a few of us) sometimes feel somewhat abandoned/ignored (sorry, my mother tongue is not english, so please forgive me if i don't find the right words now...) when it comes to events or news. You know, we are used to it that we get Event-News (i.e. Inu Scenario or similar) 9-12 hours later than you guys on the west coast. Normally, this is no problem, because there is no 'real' disadvantage for us. You hopefully understand, that this Inu Scenario is now something special. A lot of people on Drachenfels spent a lot of time on those events, an that's for months now (well, since April to be exact). A lot of people on Drachenfels played together in large groups and as one army against these ophidians. And now, just on one Saturday afternoon - it's all gone? Sorry, but this not realistic! We even have no clue, who defeated this entity in the Terathan Keep! No screens, no messages, no nothing (yes, I am still embarrassed about that, because I just love to document this Inu scenario stuff). I don't like it (no, not even virtually, hehe) to live in a world where mysterious people appears because just of one extraordinary event and vanish as soon as they have slaugthered the boss of the beasts... Don't get me wrong, please. I don't want to be rude or ungrateful... But I hope you will understand this, this little part of UO, somewhere in Europa PS: And yes, I see all of your Dev's team dedication to this 'new UO' and as it will be soon. And I really LOVE it! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Now I WONDER who this was posted by Although not a fighter, it sure was fun for me to watch the others while hiding. Thank you Draconi!! ... passes Draconi and his helpers a plate of fresh baked cookies .... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I'm seriously beginning to wonder how the dev team keeps putting up with our little rants about "our" time when they are doing stuff on "their" time. Come to an understanding that while sadly you missed out on a different event this is something done off the clock for those that can join. Set your alarm clock or go to bed. Don't suck the joy out of someone's efforts done with the only intention of creating more fun for those than can be involved. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Regardless of the reasons, if a company is inviting those from far away time zones to pay and play their game, they should support it as well as they do those time zones which coincide with their personal sleep schedules. I do know that EA hasn't had a whole lot of problems with doing extra things to attract the Japanese market. That would seem to be in a quite different time zone than California. But, as to the OP, I'm sure that there are plenty of people who are getting a heap of fun out of your efforts, and, to the extent that it makes a difference and they don't thank you for your efforts.....thanks. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Wilki and Draconi I reallyreallyreally appreciate your hard work lately on a real great new UO *sparkles* we will be having soon. Re: Historical Reenactment: Blackrock Pillar Battles on Test Center ...
ya know when I first saw the title of this post I thought it would be at Redwood City and Draconi would be wearing a big ophidian costume while people waked on him with rubber swords! (my browser cropped the title after battle)and now that I think about it after reading some of the post on UOhall he probably would have taken less abuse
![]() Looks like it was a lot of fun tho sorry I missed it ![]()
