Hey, UO team, out of curiosity, do any of you role play?

source

We know that some of you PvP.

We know you PvM.

We know there are some thieves in there.

We know that there are PKs in there.

Do any of you role play?

For our purposes, "role playing" is defined very broadly. In the context of my decision, "role playing" refers simply to, when you log in, are you playing your character AS your character rather than a direct extension of yourself.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
as in interacting in the world and the population in a persona that is different than who you are and having different views and coming to conclusions by how the character interacts within the world based just on what the character actually can see and hear and witness without any information provided by you the player....
but yeah what Galen said....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I used to, but then people called me wierd and I stoped. Plus there's just not that many people on my shard that do it on a consistent basis. There's no reward or enjoyment out of that or sometimes just busy doing something else. If I'm going to spend what little time I have anymore in-game, it sure is hell not going to be sitting down with a cup of tea talking in olde English or pirate-ish to some other drama queen especially during an event. Even if this event wasnt going on, I have to organize stuff in my house, redecorate with new decor, work on bods, check my vendors, gather/buy resources, meet with my guild, find party members for a spawn. There's just too much other stuff to bother with that crap.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I tend to only roleplay inside my own head, but yes, my characters have fully fleshed-out backstories and lineages. (For example, my current main character was born in Yew to one of the scribes at the Abbey - his father was a fighter from Trinsic who spent some time in Yew while Trinsic was overrun by undead, knocked the poor girl up, then wandered off again. Mercenaries!)
I'm feeling mildly insulted.
Sounds like the person has never RP'd a day in their life and is making the usual stereotypical judgments....
People calling me weird has never stopped me from doing the things I like.
I have to admit, the Stratics thread at least gets points for humor.
