Five On Friday September 29, 2006
September 29, 2006
1. Its great that the Treasures of Tokuno event is back. Do you have plans to do other events like this, but with new rewards? Aaron "Darkscribe" Cohen, Producer: Yes. There are a few variations that we are talking over and will experiment with. Wed like to make a system that isnt just about combat, but also involves other disciplines like crafting, fishing, mining or others. That would bring players together with different interests and abilities and give them a reason to work together. Were working on something along those lines and will roll it out when ready. I cant give a timeline at the moment, but we like the idea a lot. 2. I love the 9th Anniversary stuff! Will we get to see any of this on the Test Shard? Aaron "Darkscribe" Cohen, Producer: Yes. It will all be testable on the test shard. 3. Will UO run on Windows Vista? Aaron "Darkscribe" Cohen, Producer: Yes. As a matter of fact Microsoft was here at Redwood City today and we got a look what Vista can do. Very interesting stuff theyve got baked in there. Were looking forward to taking a closer look at it soon. 4. What happened to the dyes from the Treasures of Tokuno? Ihara Soko isnt offering any, and therere new ones on the monsters! Inocard the Mystic Llamaherder, Office Pest: I asked the very same question! So I went all the way to Zento to ask, and heres what Ive learned.
Ihara Soko, Imperial Trade Minister: It would appear that the majority of the treasure that washed ashore was taken by monsters roaming the lands above the dungeons. A few might have managed to get a very small quantity into the dungeons, but surely our people have already decimated those foul creatures and recovered it all. We would recommend hunting down these beasts above ground. |

Five on Friday Questions for 9-29
source taken from UO.UHall COMMENT[OP] 1. It was mentioned tedious skills might be changed i.e. taming may be changed so that the skill can raised by using pets in combat, is there any possibility of seeing this in the next couple publishes? 2. What is the DEV teams status and current thoughts for balancing combat PvP and PvM capabilities? (my chiv archer is still TOO godly in pvm, i can hit a lesser hiryu for over 180, even up to 360 with double shot using horselord) 3. Will we see the pre-patch items adjusted in the next publish? i.e. Talon bites / Taskmasters 4. Has the dev team ever considered a way to add additional stable slots for pets via vet reward or other method? 5. Are there any plans to change how pets lose skills upon death? With the added content introducing stronger/deadlier mobs/bosses, using a pet is often not a viable option unless you're willing to lose training time or do not care about your pet. 6. Can I get a spell channeling torch!? (yeah I'm weird and 1. Its obvious that HML was over-nerfed by mistake, particularly for archery where its now effectively zero on all weapons. Which publish is the fix targetted for? 2. Have you read any of the posts saying that evasion is the no.1 PvP problem at the moment, even after the 'fix' in the last publish? and Wilki UO Community Coordinator This was quite intentional, and we have no plans to change it back. Edit: My mistake, I somehow didn't notice that you were mentioning archery in particular. We're discussing that change internally now, but I don't know what the resolution will be. and I've a special historical screenshot stolen by the Cloud Monkeys that can explain why you're so upset that archery has been FIXED... Sorry that archery doesn't work like this anymore..... ![]() and OK, I'll bite... PvP archery was over-powered and, yes, I enjoyed it while it lasted. It made a real nice change from Overpowered-Gimp-Mages Online, which we are back to after that brief break. I don't mind that they wound archey back then, I just don't like that they don't know when to stop. The days of over-powered archers ended with P38. Four more publishes since then and the nerfs are still going on to the point of sillyness. There's one thing wrong with the picture. I never had a character that could do that much damage per hit. FoxMouldy was and is only a pally archer, doing about 50 damage with AI pre-P38. Unlike some I could name I didnt jump on the gimp Bushido dexxer/mage bandwagon - though that will ring some bells with you. and Wilki UO Community Coordinator Quote:
Is this any different than running it in realtime mode in XP?

Five on Friday Questions for 9-29
source taken from UO.UHall will the early bonus codes come in a box or will they be emailed out? Thanks Wilki UO Community Coordinator The code is the upgrade code that is in the box. You'll enter it into the promo system, and it'll make 9 tokens in your backpack that can be used to claim the early buyer bonus items.

Re: Five On Friday September 29, 2006
I would buy 10 copies if they had "The All Is Forgiven" Token. This token pardons your murder counts. Maybe the next anniversary I will be able to get them.

Re: Five On Friday September 29, 2006
Even if they did, you'd need atleast 15 tokens for yourself Maddux.

Re: Five On Friday September 29, 2006
Yeah I'm sure they would make it that "ALL" is only like 50-100 counts removed lol. I would need 5-10 for just one of my reds in that case
lol

Re: Five On Friday September 29, 2006
Hmmm, I was thinking it would take off atleast 1k counts per token. If it's 50-100 for Maddux, he's in a lot of trouble.

Re: Five On Friday September 29, 2006
Don't be putting a limit on my "All is Forgiven" Token's. In fact "Blues" are worse than "Reds". Red's just try to kill you, while blues try to scam you(Obiously not all blues).
