A Few Overlooked Aspects about the Duper Banning

a few things have not been done that need to be completed in order to further stabalize the econemy of our game.

1) Make sure EVERY house of a banned player is 100% empty. House sign and all.
2) Make sure that the Vendors owned by playersof banned accounts are deleted, and not sent to the house sign. If the vendor is sent to the house sign, the house owner is basically getting control of billions of gold, and tons of artifacts and such. It's just switching hands, really.

#2 needs to be done within the next 2 days if you want to make sure the eco stays in shape. If it's not done within 2 days, the banned accoubt vendors will be claimable by the house owners.

this is very important.
please take care of it asap.

#########################

Actually I'm wondering what will happen to the houses on those recently banned accounts.
Some of them hold several of the best plots in game and I really would like EA to delete them all without notice and free up the spots for others again.
Well, free it up for the script placers I guess, but even that I would not mind as long as the plots will be on the market again soon...

#########################

i'd like some confirmation on points 1 and 2 as well...

has to be done properly if its to be done at all.

#########################

Don't the dupers' houses belong to EA now? If that is the case, they could remain that way for a long time. Look around at the houses you still find from years ago that belong to EA.

#########################

All banned accounts have their houses fall after 90 days. Or it might be sooner if a GM deletes the house manually. It isn't like the old days when houses from banned accounts stayed up forever.

We can delete the houses, vendors and even accounts at any time we wish.

In most cases, we give players a reasonable amount of time to appeal a ban before we remove their stuff from the game, but in this instance, there is absolutely zero chance we'll be giving the vast majority of these accounts back to their owners, so that rule of thumb does not apply.

There is a big difference between appeal and tantrum. If you were banned and you weren't a duper you would be glad for their leniency. The efforts being made by the devs are commendable and way past due but everybody makes mistakes.

It's a start, but it's not enough imo

It's obvious their efforts are pretty much in vein if the same brokers who were responsible for mass selling the duped items, are right back in the action again

There's even one broker bragging about how it'll only take a few days to get stock again, and truth be told, he's now selling stuff again

It's like that letter Marion from RPGBay wrote, she said all her accounts were gone, yet she's selling about 10 artifacts, over 100 million gold, 10 barbed kits allready.

It would seem easy to get back in the game if you are a duper. All you need is the safe account whre you keep one of each item. Open another account and then get the safe items dupe them and put them back. Very hard to stop something like that.

But not TO hard if you live in South africa
I doubt there's many players who play from there (Marion from RPGBay lives there)

I swear they missed some of the most sinister dupers in the game!

The ICHIRO clones!

Not a day after this recent mass-banning, I witnessed about 30 ICHIROs come storming out of the moongate, all with their wooden clubs. 30 of them! Who knows how many times ICHIRO has been duped since then!

Have to agree with this ...

If an account is banned then why not 'poof' it during an off peak time so that no one waits around trying to grab and nab what would be considered gotten by illegal measures in the first place. (plot/location included)

vendors .. well now I am a merchant .. and by golly if my vendor was placed on a property that was known as a cheater then I deserve what happens. Now of course I could be blind to the fact that the landlord is a cheat. So, give me the benefit of the doubt (unless of course i am cheating), and send me a message to collect my items at such and such a place by such and such a time ... (only if my bank is full, otherwise send it to my bank please) but make the landlords house go 'poof' during off peak times ... with all its contents and homeowner vendors ... banned is banned ... guility is guilty ... and personally I don't want anything that came from such ill gotten gains.

Re: A Few Overlooked Aspects about the Duper Banning

The UO Economy will support what ever ppl are willing to pay. It's a simple law of economics. If the player base tolerates Duping and supports it either indirectly (By doing nothing) or directly (Or by doing business) then we will have the same situation all over again. There will always be class division in UO. There will always be someone with more gold who is willing to pay more and there is always someone willing to sell something for more gold. Class division is created by opportunity and motivation, which is something every UO player has to some degree. Some have more and some have less. UO is not a hippie commune. We do not need our Developers wasting time on Developing UO's version of Alan Greenspan.
