Re: The Event Moderator Program
I suppose each shard had their ups and downs with EM events but the one thing that it did was enable all styles of play to participate. A nonfighter could come and lend a hand and remain out of harms way. And it wasn't always about fighting either for us on Sonoma ... we had opportunities to show off our craftsmanship, our talents at storytelling, taking arrows and trying to hit the bullseye without having to be an archer, putting clues together to follow the scenerio ... and it was all for community fun ... not just for 'pixel' rewards!
What I'm noticing now (since Nov.) is how folks are doing things on their own, or turning it into a guild event. Community coming together for a focused purpose is not happening! *wishes that it wasn't true but alas, it is!* Our EM events gave me the opportunity to see things i never would have seen on my own .. Our EM events offered me the opportunities to understand why others enjoy a fighting playstyle .. Our EM events enriched my playstyle beyond what i ever imagined ... and I thank our EM for seeing us as a community and not just as one paticular playstyle. Community is one of the major reasons why UO surpasses any other mmorpg ... no where else can you do as many things as you want to when you log in. No other game offers you to be a baker of cookies one minute, and a slayer or tamer of beasts the next ... and nowhere else can you build such fortitude and comraderee in a 'call to arms' moments notice then on UO ... Re: The Event Moderator Program
The EM's on Europa were actually pretty good, and well liked by most players for giving them an excuse to find phat lewt, and by roleplayers for actually taking an interest in roleplaying affairs. Shame other shards didn't have great folks like we did

Re: The Event Moderator Program
I take a couple of days to get over a really bad cold, and come back to this ??
There isnt much that ticks me off but this has. On Europa our EM has been a great addition ,as Hanse and callum both have said. He was involved in a lot of RP stuff, and attended as much as he was able to ,supporting player run events, and he did a lot of little 'one offs' to boost story lines etc. The roleplay community welcomed his character and a lot of stuff was built around him. I am with callum on this ,when were asked about our take on the matter? This is very very bad news.

Re: The Event Moderator Program
Now I am wondering what the value of an EM robe is worth now.

Re: The Event Moderator Program
Yes, on very few (probably Europa only) shards the EM crew did a good job, in my experiences though (which is limited) the events were not what they could have been and extremely limited. They were never completed and it came blatently obvious that there wasn't much put into it (not the EMs fault, but whoever is above them). They were nice, don't get me wrong, but they were half-assed and they have "EM Cycles" so you get a month or two of activities, then the rest of the year you're left wondering if the event will ever come to finish or if a new one will start (more times than not) and leave the old one alone.

Re: The Event Moderator Program
On a larger picture, The EM program failed miserably. I am glad to see that events are now in the hands of the developers.
