| Guest | Efficiency publish goes worldwide As posted on UO Stratics: Thread: Efficiency publish goes worldwide Player: I hope it not on test center now. I hopped to test to check something, and the lag is worse than real Atlantic. Ando: My guess is you may have visited a bank where people had dropped a lot of items all over the ground. I enabled the fast item decay feature at a few of the banks, so it should look a little better now.
The place where you're going to see the biggest improvement in performance will be around Trinsic (both Tram and Fel). There should not be anymore lag spikes in that area. Ando: Just to be clear, this fix should address the recent lag issue. We are currently testing it on Origin and Atlantic for a few days to be certain everything is working the same way it appears to look on Test Center. Wilki: As far as I know, the server build was pushed out about 4 hours ago, so it would go live when the shard came back up after the next cycle.
So, yes, it should be active now.
Basically, we had some code that was executing on multiple objects in the world at the same interval... this was causing spikes in CPU and memory usage, which players definitely noticed. So, we spread the execution of that code out over time, and that fixed this particular problem. Wilki: The engineering team was going to publish when they did, it was a miscommunication error on my part that led to the "we'll wait until next week" part being in the message.
This was tested, and I have yet to see any issues caused by the changes. |
