Double Health Bars Not a Bug

Posted on UO Stratics:

Player:
Double-click a creature in the Reticle then drag on it. You'll end up with two Health Bars...

Of course there are far worse things than two Health Bars, but I have to jump on the "Who the heck tested this stuff?" bandwagon.

MrTact: We discussed this situation and decided that it was best not to interfere with players dragging status bars off targets as they are used to, even though you can get into a situation where you have two status bars for the same creature.

Going to have to agree with Spyder on that one. If you drag one off, then it shouldn't spawn a second :/

Re: Double Health Bars Not a Bug

Does it do it when dragging??

From what I understood, if you drag you are getting one...if you double click to pop it up, then drag it you are getting two...I don't know. I haven't been in game so I don't really know...that was just the feeling I got when reading Stratics...

Re: Double Health Bars Not a Bug

I agree completely with MrTact. It's a simple system and people will eventually get used to it.

There is a designated bar that shows for whatever is currently targetted. The location of this "designated bar" is constant but can be moved; that is, when you target something, it's "designated bar" will appear wherever you decide to have this bar located.

However, MrTact is still allowing us to be able to drag bars off of creatures as well. The double bars is just a minor side effect of this system, because if my designated bar (sorry for that term, just what I'm using in this post) is at the corner of my game screen, and I suddenly drag the ettin's health bar off of him, I don't want the position of my designated bar to get messed up.

The targetting system is a significant change to the user interface, so I'm not really expecting people to get used to it very easily, but just like everything else, we'll get used to it.

Ok now I understand more about the 'brackets', but is it really going to stay that way when opening containers and vendors as well? Hmmm... can't have everything, I guess.

Re: Double Health Bars Not a Bug

I had a hard time with it during pvp last night, i pulled a lifebar then cycled through the targets and his bar came up again. This could get confusing if you have lots of bars of characters up at once

Re: Double Health Bars Not a Bug

it gets pretty insane during a spawn when were being raided. Although, I think the max you can have on screen at once is 10, still not nice seeing someone you are redlining, and then to see a duplicate up there and thinking hey ill get this one next, when its the same guy. hehe..

Thumbs down Re: Double Health Bars Not a Bug

As of right now (Thurs night) there is a bug associated with the new status bar/lifebar system (naturally) in which monster life bars are not updating to show damage, so you end up wondering if the monster is being damaged or not. Numerous threads on Stratics to complain about this, no dev response as of yet. Probable emergency patch being worked on? Who knows?

This is what happens when you try to fix something that isn't broken.

Re: Double Health Bars Not a Bug

Yes I have noticed this as well, it's very annoying. I hope it gets fixed soon. You can update them though by double clicking the monster or re-dragging it's health bar off of it.
