Can't hold a Candle to that....
[here we go already *sighs]
Had to grit my teeth when reporting this to you all. Frankly if there had been enough 'other' more newsworthy threads I would of chosen them ,however......... My thoughts on the Candle of Love Quest: 1 - I didn't get a chance to cleanse any shrines, most of which were more crowded than a port-o-john at an Oktoberfest, so I didn't get a chance to get a scroll of alacricty. No biggie. But can't really speak to that. 2 - Justice quest -- nice story, but too easy. Let's face it, a NPC tavern wench could complete it in nothing flat. It needs to be more difficult... perhaps you have to find the RIGHT executioner? (Killing dozens of innocent executioners to make sure you got the one that was guilty seems a bit counter to the virtue, though.) 3 - Sacrifice Quest -- Far too easy and quick, but a nice idea. Everyone is complaining about losing 30 points in stats. Big whoop! You'll get that back in a few weeks of casual playing. Now if you would have had to pay 30 points off your primary skill, that would have been something! But in the end, it DID make you sacrifice, so a good idea. Just not nearly long enough. I mean really. We're talking a two stop quest here. 4 - Compassion Quest -- Oh my goodness. The designers must have been monumentally naive not to see how this was going to be abused by campers. At least instancing the heart would have helped. But come on, you have to work on the spawn to make ONE LOL appear, and he appears in a place quite possibly camped by other players, who will wipe him out before you get to even find him? Retarded idea. 5 - Lava Tiles -- This was pretty neat, actually. But the stakes shoulda been higher. Not instant death on the wrong choice, but certainly more than 8-10 points of lightening damage. 6 - The Candle Itself -- Meh. It doesn't DO anything. Another "Hey Look At Me" item for the banksitters. Overall: For all the rigamarole about it over the past weeks, the quest sure felt like something that someone could have thrown together in an afternoon. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I am only going to post two responses .One being by one of the 'testers' who did a LOT of work for this quest to go live with no bugs. If the Dev's spent all their time testing publishes, they wouldn't have time for anything else...they are giving US the players, the people who actually play the chance to make things better for everyone. Take the auto-equip bug with the candle.....had that gone to all the shards without being found first it would have been disasterous. Just imagine someone finding that and going around auto equiping other ppl's candles.... The shrines being broken, the spawn being underneath the ground...so many things were found in the testing phase that were fixed BEFORE you guys got it..and you still complain....we here on Origin went through the publish 4 times....finding and getting bugs and quirks fixed so the rest of you had smooth sailing....and still you complain..... So say that didn't happen, say they just published everyone, the boards would be filled with.. "OMG there's a guard zone around the shrines?? WTF??? Just make it easier why don't you? No risk in fel? What is the world coming to?" "OMG theres no spawn and there are still sparkles at the shrine and it won't let me med, WTF DEVS NICE BROKEN QUEST THANKS ALOT" "OMG there is spawn under the ground and we can't kill it, nice work devs, way to make the shrines unable to be cleansed" I could go on.....stop complaining and be grateful to the people that helped make it easier for you. I had a blast going through the quests and finding the bugs to help make it better for the rest of you. I think it was perfect..for those like me who can't figure things out like that in nano-seconds...spending 30 minutes figuring out the darn thing was enough torture for me! Indeed, time and patient memorization were quite enough punishment. *evil grin* ... with just enough pain so that the hasty wouldn't try to run onto the maze time after time when the lava was blocking the start... a subtle hint that maybe this puzzle should be examined and watched before leaping in with both (hot) feet. Feel free to add/discuss your own opinions ![]()

Re: Can't hold a Candle to that....
i completely missed it, anyone got any screens of it by chance? oh and i will add....... the dev team didn't have to do this, in fact they don't have to "make" any advent. anyone that is complaining, has no right to do so. when i went to the trial in yew, there was quite a few people that got turned away because the court room was full. when something is new, people want to go do it. if you missed out on this one, try to go to the next one. and if all your after are the "gifts", have no fear... they will be coming to a vendor near you soon
