Can you still Cast Armaggedon?

source taken from UO U.Hall

Is it still possable to cast Armaggedon?

I recently got my Necro to 120. Mined up a few large pieces of Blackrock.
& said Vas Kal An Mani In Corp Hur Tym with my 120 Necro. Nothing happened, didn`t even get the animation for casting the spell.

Has anyone been able to cast Armaggedon this past week? Is it a bug that it no longer works.

I only have Necro on this character. Don`t have any Magery what so ever.

Don't you need magery though?

Either Necro or magery will work, 100 or above for both, the higher they the better your chances, but it can take several tries even at 120. Keep at it.

Make sure...

1. That you are saying the words right...(ALOT of people had issues with this)
2. The blackrock is on the ground, not on your person
3. It's NOT locked down

They said they were allowing Necro's to do it too, just takes longer.

Over 300 Casts & nothing. Don`t even get the animation for casting the spell. ><

Blackrock Infected

After reading this thread I went back through and checked. The intention was that Necromancy would be interchangeable with Magery as far as actually using blackrock went. There's a bug though, and the Necromancy check only occurs for deciding what kind of result to give you.

So: To all those who doubted that Necromancy was working correctly, you were 100% correct.

And now for our scholarly review of blackrock and its usage, as recorded by one Inocard the Scribe:

Quote:
Blackrock requires at least GM Magery (or, with a coming fix, GM Necromancy) to use. It can be used by simply being placed near the caster in an unprotected position. In other words, it can't be locked down or placed in a container.

By incanting "Kal An Mani In Corp Hur Tym" out loud, a magical reaction will occur. Admittedly, no mere mortal seems capable of actually performing this spell (the true requirement for casting it is unknown, and has only been tested at the utmost peril by the most despicable of fiends). Whether it requires twice, or thrice, or five times even the casting abilities of a skilled mage, or it's merely a lack of enough refined blackrock, we hope to never know.

Now then. For our purposes, even in failure, some measure of scientific observations can be made. Success in this spell is surely only a spark of the dimmest view of the spell's power... but here is what we have found nevertheless:

If the caster is either a Legendary Mage or Necromancer (this part works), a shockwave will toss them aside in the resultant explosion as an event of some sort unfolds. We have classified the result into the following types:

*A wisp appears, which attempts to communicate with the caster in an intelligent manner*

*The caster feels uneasy, as though someone distant were talking to them. Rumors abound that this has developed into a long lasting condition where the caster hears voices*

*Nothing at all*

The caster should note that if an explosion occurs then the blackrock has been consumed. We also note that different types of blackrock seem to have different rates of success. The most useful seem to be the ones taken from the Ophidian war, while the larger, rougher ones with lower purity have less of an effect.

For those who aren't Legendary in their professions, there seems to be a roughly 25% chance of success in casting; this chance seems to raise the closer you are to being at the highest skill level.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yes I noticed that the smaller pieces were more "potent" then the larger minable ones......I can "sucessfully" cast it at 118 though it does take me a few tries....with a ring on to bring me to 120 I cast "successfully" each time.....
Being the first one to notice the "voices" I would suggest NOT casting this spell..as they are becoming quite pushy and rather annoying! *grins*
