Ok well anyways, the title pretty much sums it up.

Anyways. The other night I was vendor shopping. I noticed a cheap leather dye tub and bought it. Who wouldn't? Anyways further along, I decided to put it to good use only to discover it wont dye my leather armor! I got some dyes, toggled them onto the tub and the colors came up the same (showing the ore color choices/reds/blues/greens etc).

Anyways, I paged a gm to see if he would replace or fix the tub for me.

what I got as a response was that it was an illegal item and that it had not been declared legal to own (or along that line) of the Developer team to own and that owning the tub could cause future consequences so I hold it at my own risk...

ok. Now I know its possibly Illegal. But I just spend 125k on it. Now what? I just bought this off of a vendor and now I'm held responsible for something I didn't know I was buying. The gm won't replace it for me so refund anyone?

Now my question is, if it doesnt dye leather like its suppose to, then what does it dye?

I have one of those. It dyes clothes like a normal dye tub but in leather dye tub colors. =]
You can easily make you hats match vet robes and such with one of those if you like. They are convenient when you look at it that way.

Yeah it's legal to own for the time being. I doubt anyone would get their panties in a twist if there were Leather-Hued hats or look alike robes/cloaks.

On a plus note, the male kimono looks great in Gold. =D

This is the issue I do not understand and why I think confusion ensued over the duped robes issue. Why is it not possible for a GM to either fix the dye tub or if they can't then exchange the illegal item for a legal one? Then they can dispose of the illegal item and take it out of the game without leaving you w/out 125k spent on something you should not own but is allowed to stay in the game. This also takes care of the question of can I own it or not when its technically allowed to stay but not legal to have or in the case of the robes, its not illegal to have but you shouldnt have it.

If in game mechanics fails and it produces unique items we should not have then please leave us a community message when we log in? It takes the question out immediately and buyers like Kratos here can make an informed decision and when they page a GM can have their bought item replaced if it's not legal. Just a thought *smiles*

That right there tells you, you had better get rid of it especially now that you KNOW that it is not a legal item to have in the game. If that GM checks back with you and finds that you still have it, then you didn't heed his words about the "future consequences" that he mentioned.

If you value your account, I would get rid of it.

Someone on GL last year had a tub that dyed leather normal colors. I used it on my armor then, and love the colors. Problem is that now I can't change the armor pieces without screwing up the colors.

It would be awesome if they made that kind of dye tub a vet award; or even sell it on UO.com, I would buy one! Here are some examples of the colors it can make....

OK, I'm going to respond publicly, since there's a bunch of confusion about the issue. This particular item is "non-supported", which means it's bugged but not bannable. If we ever fix these items in the future, you're plain out of luck - we won't reimburse in any way. However, we aren't taking any other action against them at the moment - we won't fix, delete, or reimburse for it.

Why can't these two tubs be made Legal?

I would love to have both tubs!

(ofcourse i'd like them to take out the option of neon pink orange and green...)
some people are just wrong in the head that way, and do horrible things with those colors.

Now that we have an "official" responce..... I may just put this dyetub out for everyone to have a blast with! It will never be sold... So please dont ask......I dont play this game for making a living..... I play to have fun! Though I have had a few offers that would make your jaw drop.... and we arnt talking a few mill... 9 figures......

Let me think about this over the holiday weekend... If and when I decide to put it up for public use I will post the location and shard.
