Addressing the Blessed Item Situation

Hello again!

As I mentioned in my earlier thread, along with our Arms Lore bump (click here for details) we want to solve the blessed item issue on Siege. What we’re planning to do is:

1. Unbless the blessed 7AE Royal Leggings of Embers and Ancient Samurai Helms.
2. Give you a way to exchange these items (only the ones that are currently blessed!) for a 9th Anniversary Token that you can then use to choose another gift.

We’ll also take a look at the other blessed items such as clothing that has extra combat properties that have Clothing Bless Deeds on them, quivers that remain blessed after the last attempt to fix them, and any event items that have combat properties that are also blessed. (If there is anything else I'm forgetting, please remind me!)

This won’t make next week’s publish, but it should be in one shortly after.

I say anything to make the who shard balanced. Anytime someone can have blessed gear and others do not... it creates an imbalance. CBD'd clothes do not create an imbalance.... Mages with blessed helm and quiver have a base 20 DCI? wow that sucks. they also run blessed inquist then put on two 1/1's or 1/2 and then a DCI bracelet voila... you have a mage with 120 weapon skill and 35+ DCI and that will nerf any dexxor template other then bushido...and even that everyone whined (mages) and they got that nerfed. Dexxors either go HCI or damage inc but they have to contend with curse.... slow banadages.... and the disarm ninja/mage with 35+DCI.... The way of the Mage on Siege.

All I see now are DCI ninja/mages or necro/swords and stealth tamers... that should make up 75% of teh pvp scene and pks.. guess what they all have ninja on thier template too.

With the arms lore bonus being applied to craftable hats (i tried this on TC and it applies) does that mean the maximum resists able to have a cbd hat equals 47? (24 base + 15 execptional + 8 arms lore)

Will you either make cbd no able to bless hats with resistances? (this would be best for siege going back the "everyone should have ONE bless item" subject)

Then again...Leurocian stated that while clarifying the major boo-boo he made earlier regarding the bonus itself, so I don't know.

P.S. I just made some cloth hats on Siege, and they are definitely getting the bonus applied.
What I meant is hats normally do not have physical resist. The armor must have a base resist for that resist in order to receive the arms lore bonus. If a hat, for example, has no physical resist, then arms lore will not apply any resist bonus to that particular resist.

spellbooks have always been blessed on siege and I see it highly uneccesary to unbless them. Also the vet rewards have always been blessed lets try to revert back to what siege use to be not make a whole new shard. Whats the point of waiting 36 months to get a ethereal stead just to have it stolen/taken imediately. If anything get rid of pet bonding.

Yes, actually, there is a good chance that more choices could be added.

Vet rewards are probably off the table, but a charger token or soulstone is not outside of the realm of possibility. Any other ideas?

STOP ASKING FOR SOULSTONES. They are horribly BAD for Siege JUST LIKE blessings are BAD.

Looking back, I'd tend to agree with you if this were 2 years ago. However, the cat's out of the proverbial bag, and as anyone who knows Cathat can tell you: while it might be easy to get the cat to come out, it's not quite so easy to stuff him back in.

Nerfing soulstones in general is pretty far outside of the scope of this thread.

Hello again!

  1. When Phase 1 is published, the blessed 7AE combat items will remain blessed.
  2. An NPC will be spawned that will allow you to exchange these items as follows:
  1. Ancient Samurai Helm - 9th Anniversary Heritage Token, Charger of the Fallen, Soulstone Token
  2. Royal Leggings of Embers - 9th Anniversary Heritage Token, Charger of the Fallen, Soulstone Token
  3. Shamino's Best Crossbow - 9th Anniversary Heritage Token
  4. The Holy Sword - 9th Anniversary Heritage Token
  5. After an undetermined amount of time, Phase 2 will be published, and all formerly blessed 7AE combat items will be unblessed
  6. The NPC will still accept formerly blessed 7AE items for exchange indefinitely



We’ll also take a look at the other blessed items such as clothing that has extra combat properties that have Clothing Bless Deeds on them, quivers that remain blessed after the last attempt to fix them, and any event/IBD'd items that have combat properties that are also blessed. (If there is anything else I'm forgetting, please remind me!)

The publish this will go into will be determined by the needs of UOKR development, but we'll let you know as soon as it's firmed up.

Update 5/4/2007 5PM: I've made the changes so that the 7AE items are no longer blessed, checked into the quiver issue (seems that there is a bigger bug at play here that needs to be solved). Next: the exchange system.

Update 5/6/2007 5PM: I got the basic functionality of the exchange system working on Friday night, but it's still buggy and need some polish. I also looked at the IBD items a bit, but didn't see an easy solution, so I'm holding off on that until I get the core functionality finished. I just added two items to the exchange list above to clear up any confusion for those who might just read this post and not the whole thread. (Sorry about that!)

Update 5/9/2007 5PM: I've currently got all of the item exchange code written except for plugging in the final rewards.

After thinking about my original design, I realized how stupid it was, so I had to go back and rewrite some of it. I was going to unbless the items, and then tell you all to go to an NPC to trade them in. Yeaaah, not such a great idea on Siege. So, what we're going to do is leave them blessed during a grace period of an undetermined length (at least 2 weeks), and let you turn them in. When that grace period is over, any remaining items will be unblessed. You can still turn them in afterwards, however, you would then risk losing them at that point, so don't wait!

If anyone is worried about Phase 2 never coming, don't! The code for both phases is going in the Phase 1 publish, so there is no reason for Phase 2 not to happen. (And notice I don't have a Phase 3! No need to repeat that, eh?)

Question: What existing color soulstone would you like? (No, I can't give individual choices, unfortunately.)
