![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I have a question that I was wondering if anyone could answer. Maybe you know personal or from a friend or family member...anyway.. Have you ever (or known someone who has) had to travel across the border with needles? Medical needles that is! Not drug needles..hehe I've been searching the airline sites and so far nothing. Now, the group I spoke with here in Canada said that I need a doctor's letter in order to carry lancets across the border. These aren't normal long needles. A lancet is a small, maybe half a centimeter long needle used for drawing blood. They are all capped and can't accidently be exposed, You have to pull their tops off for that to happen. Anyway, I will get a letter, but I'm just trying to find some more info to find out how much of a hassle this is going to be in security. I find it funny that I can't find any information, as you would think testing supplies would be fairly common, especially with so many people who are diabetic in the world. Anywho, anyone has any experience with this?? All I have read so far is to carry all medical supplies in your carry on, which I was going to do anyway. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Maybe carry one or two, or whatever supplies you might need for a day or so. Down here (in Texas) a LOT of people go to Mexico to get medication and such. There isn't a problem with it, providing you make sure to declare anything. Especially if it is a prescription druug here. Also, VERY importantly: Make sure that no one else has "access" to the med or item if it is restricted or prescribed here. Access means no one else should touch it at all, period. A few friends of mine got jailed for a while because one of them was carrying an item (which you need a prescription for) for his buddy and it had his buddy's name on it. It turned out ok in the end, but it was a big hassle. ![]() We are all broken and wounded in this world. Some choose to grow strong at the broken places. --Harold J. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Travel Question (US/Canada) Wow he got jailed for it?? I've never heard of that before..strange. It is a thought, but I believe (and I'd have to check to be sure) that I can't claim it if I buy it in the US. I would have to check our health care about buying drugs in another country..something tells me it might be a hassle. I figure we can always just go a little early and head through security as soon as we can..that way if they hassle me, we won't be rushed! LOL ![]() ![]() ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Travel Question (US/Canada) Well, what got him jailed I think was that it was a painkiller. They told him that if he had not touched it, then it would have been no problem. Who knows? I know that coming back from Mexico can be somewhat interesting tho. What about a travel agent? Call one of them? They should know if no one else does. You would think that lancets would not be a big deal. Of course, I guess people thought box cutters were no big deal either. *sigh* People suck. ![]() We are all broken and wounded in this world. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Travel Question (US/Canada) hehe People do suck! We still have to buy some travel insurance from the travel agent, so I think I'll mention it to them when we are there. Maybe they'll have some more insight on it. You would think it wouldn't be a big deal...but security just keeps changing and having more things added, you never know what's going to happen. Thanks for the advice...hopefully I can find something out before we go! *is excited for a vacation* ![]() ![]() ![]() |
