![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: RIP Robert Jordan About the Author Robert Jordan was born in 1948 in Charleston, South Carolina, where he now lives with his wife, Harriet, in a house built in 1797. He taught himself to read when he was four with the incidental aid of a twelve-year-older brother, and was tackling Mark Twain and Jules Verne by five. He is a graduate of The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina, with a degree in physics. He served two tours in Vietnam with the U.S. Army; among his decorations are the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Bronze Star with "V," and two Vietnamese Crosses of Gallantry. A history buff, he has also written dance and theater criticism. He enjoys the outdoor sports of hunting, fishing, and sailing, and the indoor sports of poker, chess, pool, and pipe collecting. He has been writing since 1977 and intends to continue until they nail shut his coffin. I'm on the verge of crying. This is horrible. I'm at a loss for words. ![]() ![]() "Peace is not the absence of war. Our world is poor for his loss. I was praying that he would recover. ![]() Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment |

I'm sad for us to lose another author, though he had annoyed me enough in two novels I had stopped reading his works years ago. My sweetie will be upset though I'm sure. What a shame. He was a great man. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I just read a few days ago that he had spent an evening telling his "A Memory of Light" -tale to his wife and brother/cousin. At the time it kind of irked me to read that. But I'm very glad the gleeman was able to share his magic with his loved ones. http://www.dragonmount.com/ I guess there is one less light shining in the world today. Yet, his light will always shine ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ![]() ![]() | |

Robert Jordon brought much enjoyment to the worlds of many fantasy/sci-fi readers everywhere. Be it the "Wheel Of Time" or the "circle of life"... Mr. Jordan contributed much during his "time". Hopefully those who read his books will carry a little piece of him throughout our own times. |

But think it will be too hard to do that. I count his write as good as Tolkien or even better. (not just the story, but the way he is writing it) |
