Thumbs down Night storage heaters.

Think that's what they're called

Does anyone have these in their house?

We bought a house a while back which has these instead of central heating (Radiators/hot tank etc)

Damn they suck!

You change the temperature on them and they don't actually change for about 5 hours, so if it's to cold and you want more heat, you gotta wait 5 freaking hours

Re: Night storage heaters.

Aye they suck BIG TIME and they take epic amounts of electricity.

I tore my storage heaters out, got meself an electric shower (heats it own water), and filed my home with halogen heaters. Halogens (despite bad press) are realy realy warm, and they use barely any electricity. 400 watts is often enough to heat a big room when its realy cold (and man does my home get nippy in the winter ). Havent turned on my economy 7 water heater for about 2 years now. The bills realy show the difference and my home is warmer quicker

Re: Night storage heaters.

Hey atleast the ones where you live stay on at night. When I was in Japan, they all used space heaters, but turned them off at night. Most of their houses had a kerosene tank outside, and thats how they kept the houses warm. It really smelled bad and you woke up freezin..

Re: Night storage heaters.

Halogens are bright bulbs against a foil/metal backing. They normally come with 2-4 bulbs. One bulb is normally 400 watts. 2 bulbs are SERIOUSLY hot. That little 800 watts from 2 bars heats me up more than a 2.4kw oil filter heater, and is cheaper / more economical to run.

Wonderfull things are halogens
