i was lucky enough to watch a guy make one with a freaken chainsaw...... it blew my mind how fast and accurate he was :shocked:

When I was taking culinary arts, we had to learn to make ice sculptures. Just basic ones tho, like hearts, swans, etc. We had to do it inside a huge freezer that was about -30 degrees, bundled up like Eskimo. We could only work on them a few minutes at a time so we didn't get sick. Yeah, we used chainsaws too. It was actually neat watching them being made, cause it looked like snow was flying everywhere.

I was able to go to the Sapporo Snow Festival just once out of my 5 winters in Japan, only cause you had to cross to Hokkaido on a Ferry, and it took a long time...grrrhh.. Anyways, the stuff that is there is MIND BLOWING. They make castles and stuff that you can actually walk through, the size of buildings. I wish I still had some of the pictures from up there..

The ones in Alaska I have pictures of with my son. Some of the sculptures you can climb on, ie the bridge, castle, etc. Really cool (literally) art work.
