Have you ever had a dream? A dream you thought was real? Or wierd? Discuss here!

Just wanted to see what you other people had in the line of real of wierd dreams? What was it about?

The reason for the topic is the one I had last night:

I was in a town which I thought was where I lived, and was in an apartment building. (never seen it before) The world was going to end in a few days - not sure if it was because of a meteor or something but the main bit in the dream was my dad rang me (were really close) And wanted me to come to him (he lives in a different city) so we could die together which was really upsetting. Everyone apart from my family were being really horrible. But I couldnt go because I had to stay with my mother and sister to die with them. I was hoping to sort it out and drive them to my dad but then I woke up and spent the next 15 minutes wondering what happened before I had to goto work.

Another one I had along time ago, was I lived a whole life in a dream (the key moments) I had a house car, wife, kids everything and when I woke up I was confused because I wondered where I was. I thought that one was real.

Wierd I know and I dont take drugs to induce these - the mind works in mysterious ways!

I have always wanted to be able to control my dreams, supposdly if you can be aware your dreaming you can do what ever you like in your dream now that sounds fun!.

So what are your experiences?

So fear not, and be proud...

Yes very much so. When I was little used to have a reoccurring dream about the Incredible Hulk coming after my family, chasing us, we escaped, then he found us at our house. I always woke up after seeing his HUGE eye in my bedroom window.

After 911 I had some really vivid dreams that felt like they were real of us being attacked and not being able to find my little sister. Those were horrible dreams and my body would be freaking out in real life, not being able to wake up.

I dream a lot, and its the worst when you wake up from a good dream, makes me kind of grumpy or if you'd rather be in your dream then RL

As far as controlling your dreams I do think its possible. I think you just need to day dream a little bit before you fall asleep

Re: Have you ever had a dream? A dream you thought was real? Or wierd? Discuss here!

An unusual dream that I will never forget:

For some reason it was a video-game related dream.. I was a WoW character (my level 45 dwarf paladin) and helping friends in a lowbie area. I seem to recall coming out of a moongate and killing stuff. At some point I came into a building where there were several elites, only they were some sort of commando/special forces soldier types. I began killing them but it was harder, and eventually they overpowered me and I ran. However I came back and starting beating all of them, until I came across "the boss". The boss was some sort of ninja or something, I dunno, but we fought and we fought and I just couldn't beat him. Exasperated, I said to him, "I don't understand! Why can't I beat you?! Why can't I win?!". He said to me, "Never forget this number: 43".

And then I woke up.

And I was like wtf.

Here's another weird dream that comes to mind:

In my dream I saw a bird. Nothing else, just a bird over a blank background. And when I saw this bird, I started to get angry. For some reason, the bird was pissing me off but it wasn't doing anything, just standing there. I got so angry I kicked the bird. Well at that point I woke up mid-kick to find that I was actually kicking the wall. Damn that hurt. Not a fun way to wake up.

And that brings to mind one more slightly humorous dream/waking up moment:

In my dream I was in the chair that I usually sit at the computer with. It's a nice comfy office chair that spins around. Well I was not really sitting in the chair, but on my knees in the seat, and facing the opposite direction. At the same time I was spinning in the chair and there was a snake striking at me every time I spun around. That snake really freaked me out, so I tried to jump out of the chair. Well, I woke up mid-jump to find that I was actually jumping out of my bed and I landed on the floor. Damn that hurt.

As you can tell, sleeping is not something I'm terribly fond of.

Re: Have you ever had a dream? A dream you thought was real? Or wierd? Discuss here!

When I was young, we lived in a two story house. The second story was underground, so from the outside it just looked like one story.

I had a dream once that I was back in that house, in bed in my room which was one of the underground ones. As I lat there, I saw a rat, and got up to investigate it. For some reason it terrfied me in the dream.... I am not afraid of rats IRL. As I watched, two more rats came from a hole in my wall. Then the rats came running out in huge numbers til they were all over my floor. I ran out of my room and there were more rats everywhere. I started going up the stairs, and the rats were like rising water. They kept coming closer and cloer, until I was at the top of the stairs and the rats were entirely filling the bottom floor like water. For some reason I could not run away, and I woke up when the rats touched my feet.

Very odd dream.

Re: Have you ever had a dream? A dream you thought was real? Or wierd? Discuss here!

I've had many very real dreams and two recurring dreams (one that scares the stuffing out of me and one good one).

The very realest dream (which also happens to be the most possible) involves my daughter and a lifelong friend of my oldest son.
Boy goes off to be a rock star (plausible.. he has a couple of CDs). Shows up at a house I know is mine (but I have never irl seen) walks in like usual and procedes to tell me he must see my daughter (he's been gone 3-5 years). Asks if I have heard the new CD (which I know arrived the day before). Plays a song titled "Her" which is all about the stuff he and my son did while growing up (throwing mud clods at my daughter and the like). He explains how he dropped the "eath" (the song would have been called Heather, my daughter's name) because he couldn't afford to lose the groupies just because he wants a certain woman in his life.
She's coming over to pick up her son (I work at home and watch him while she works) and finally arrives. I leave the two of them alone and start the pasta salad (extremely detailed this dream was). I eavesdrop and call my oldest son who seems to know exactly what I'm going to say just before I say it.
He asks her to marry him (remember they haven't seen each other for at least 3 years) and she starts business negotiations with him... ring/rock size (he has one in hand that is absolutely huge), house in Australia (just finished purchasing a 600+ acre ranch there), 3 months of alone time for her to do the things that interest her (he'll tour then) all kinds of crazy things.. and then she agrees to marry him.

Now this might all seem a bit fanciful and wished for except that at the time I had this dream my daughter didn't have a son, the boy was very much in love with his girlfriend of 4 years, and while he played guitar in a local band it wasn't a career it was just for fun.

As for guiding your dreams.. I can only do that with nightmares and only to make them worse. Even knowing I am dreaming, I cannot wake myself up once I start choreographing a nightmare.

How many people dream and remember them? Are they vivid or just shadows? Do they scare you or make you feel comfort? Here is a little story about my dreams........

It's spring time and though I don't feel it, many have told me that I'm sensitive...no, not the sensitive in that I cry at the drop of a pin or that I'm emotional (well yes, I'm emotional), but sensitive in the fact that I can percieve things to come. This has been happening for maybe 20 years that I can remember and usually in the spring. Things come to me in my dreams (which I will tell a couple momentarily), and though the events may not happen to the people I dream about, the events do happen to people that are close to me.

For example, in one dream, I was with my son and ex-husband in a small row boat on a lake that I know well, the water was dark and I knew more than anything that I didn't want to be in there because I couldn't see the bottom. Anyway, the boat rocked and my son fell out....my ex-husband couldn't swim and was screaming for me to go in and get my son. After a moment of pure terror, I rescued my son and noticed something odd about his eyes. *Poof* Dream over. I think it was four days later, my inlaws invited us to visit them at the camp they were renting. It was on the lake in my dreams!!! When we got there, the first thing my ex-husband said to his father was "Dad what happened to your glasses?". According to his father, he had been fishing the night before and his canoe tipped over, he lost his glasses in the lake and had to resort to his old ones. Very creepy.

This was the very first time I can remember something like this happening to me. After that it just seemed normal for these dreams to happen, although they only happen in the spring.

The second dream I will tell about is one where I had a car accident on a bridge (I don't like bridges anyway since I'm afraid of heights). But that was all the dream was, just an accident (roll-over) and then the dream was over. Two weeks later my brother-in-law from Washington called to tell us that he was okay after a minor car accident, he rolled his truck under a bridge!!! Go figure... *shrug*

Is it coincidence or something more? Maybe I'll never know. I just know that during springtime, I try very hard to remember my dreams. It doesn't happen as frequently as it has in years previous, however, I'll never forget how I felt the first time a dream came true.
Over the past several years, dreams such as the above have haunted me. I'm more sensitive in the spring than any other season. I have recently begun to be able to tell myself "it's just a dream" and "it's time to wake up", while in a dream.

People can control their dreams sometimes, this has happened to me several times. I have had some awful and vivid dreams, and i think there is more to them than people think. The first one to spring to mind is one i had recently, where the masked magician (from the TV show) is chasing me in an orange van and trying to run me over. The worst dreams though, are the ones closer to real life.

9/10 when I dream..... I die..
Weither its eaten by an alien... Or a dinasour... Or run over... Or loads of other stuff... Rather annoying really...

Though the other 1/10 of the time I dream it feels really real...

Re: Have you ever had a dream? A dream you thought was real? Or wierd? Discuss here!

I have a history of totally freaked out dreams.

At a part of my life, I would EVERY god damn night dream that I was tied with rope, and that I was either being rolled of a cliff or laying on rails with the train approaching. I would then ALWAYS wake up just as I hit the ground or the train hit me, with death anxiety set at 100%
That kept on for a VERY long time, was really messing me up. Then all of a sudden it stopped.

Some years after that, I got another dream that kept coming back. It would always "go down" in a local Games store in the town I live actually - And what's even more sick that I always got into a fight with a guy from school, and it always had a VERY abrupt ending.
After we had fought and tumbled around in the whole store, and I was on the losing side, I would all of a sudden (the dream never told me/I woulld never remember from where) pull out a KATANA (yes a long, bloody silvery sharp Katana) and literally cut his head off, with blood splattering everywhere. Sometimes the dream would end right there, and some times, which was REALLY freaked out, it would "end" with me waking up so that I almost believed that it really happened.

That dream also stopped occuring though, luckily, because it's rather disturbed

Besides from those two I haven't had any dreams that have repeated themselves.
However, I do remember a few. Especially one, lol, from when I was 16 or something like that. I had like a crush on this girl in school etc...
And I had this dream that was SO real, and it was long too. Anyways, yadda yadda, I dreamed that I in the end had sex with her and that we fell asleep together.
And when I woke up... ROFL.
I have NEVER, EVER been so dissapointed in my WHOLE life. It totally wrecked my whole day

It 's funny how much crap your subconcious can make up inside that nutty of head of yours ^^

Re: Have you ever had a dream? A dream you thought was real? Or wierd? Discuss here!

I had a dream In which I woke up (in the dream) in some sort of cage. It was just big enough to sit in and thats all. Well I noticed there were other people in cages all around me. I began to figure out that we were in some kind of warehouse or factory because the ceiling was so high and there were all these assembly line belts and stuff. Well it seemed like a long time I was conversing with these people who all said they fell asleep at home and woke up in cages. After what seemed like days the lights in the place got real bright and all these strange looking people came in and started pushing buttons. I noticed that all the cages the people were trapped in began to move as these other strangers pressed buttons. As I yelled at them other people started to. Then my own cage started to move. I found out that every cage was on a conveyer belt. I looked at the group of cages next to me. At the end of the belt the cages would open and dump the people into what looked like a meat grinder. After seeing this i tried really hard to get out. I managed to knock over my cage and escape the building. I found myself outside in a really bright and dry desert. I kept trying to run but people in black robes from the factory or whatever it was were chasing me. I kept trying to run but it seemed like I was in slow motion and my legs wouldnt work right. My body felt heavy as I tried to run. I seemed to be getting away from th eones chasing me. I kept running until I came to a road. Looking behind me I could see the robbed ones catching up. when I started across the road a semi truck out of nowhere honks its loud horn and all I can see is the trucks grill about to hit me. I wake up in a dark room and thought to myself hah it was only a dream. Then the lights come on and Im back in the cage. Then I finally wake up to my alarmclock. I get ready for school only to find out its saturday
