Flight Simulator Computer Screen Setup

Recently Ive been playing Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004. Its a game with real settings and you can fly around the world, Not a game, A simulator. Really amazing. Well Ive seen people create setups for it, An example below.

Now thats pritty mad, Expensive and rather hard to setup I imagine. But I took a long hard thought and I then noticed a few large lcd monitors became available at work. So that needs me to this question, Do I bother setting them up? Well I tested it! And here were the results:

I first of all tested it with a 4 way vga splitter, That didnt work very well the the computer quickly died of overheating.

As seen in that picture the guy has several pc's. So I searched the internet and found a program called MaxiVista, The program allows you to attach up to 10 monitors via your network! No vga splitters required. When I tried it that way it worked perfectly. The pictures can be found at http://uomapper.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=154 .

The main peices of hardware were a 4 way wireless networking hub, I used two laptops, One connected to a 2nd monitor via VGA. I then had another Desktop with monitor, So thats 2 monitors via networking, One via VGA. The other computers dont need a good graphics card since its the main computer doing all the work. The laptop I used has an ATI Radeon X1400, Has 2 gig of RAM and a 1.7GHz processor. Not extremely hard hardware to find.

The main reason for this post is just to show off really heh, Also, Anyone else played Flight Simulator? If so, Like it? Dislike it?

Cheers, Mapper.

Good that you got it all working!

Edit: Why is the middle computer in this shot (http://uomapper.com/gallery/displayi...bum=154&pos=25) showing the XP theme. I thought you installed Vista on that laptop?

Re: Flight Simulator Computer Screen Setup

Not sure if you were around but MaxiVista doesnt work with Vista, So I slipped in the orginal hd which had windows xp installed on it I installed Vista on a seperate hd so if it went wrong I have the original hd to use.

That's pretty bad-ass. To bad you can't set something up like that for Grand Turismo.
