Dyson Animal Vacuum

OK... so I just did something that a lot of people will consider crazy. I spent $450 on a vacuum cleaner (and that was with a 20% off coupon).

But... I'm so excited!!!!

My old vacuum cleaner died today. I've never had good luck with vacuums. I have 3 cats, and they shed like maniacs. I seem to go through vacuums faster than... something really fast. I've been eying the Dyson Animal Vac for a couple years now.

I finally broke down and bought one - the DC17 model. I went with the DC17 model for a couple reasons.

1. It was the only model of all the Dysons I looked at online that got nearly unanimous 5 star ratings from people.

2. I have animals. Lots of them. Only the "Animal" models of Dysons come with the special animal hair attachment.

3. I have hard floors in addition to the carpet. The cheaper models don't come with the hard floor attachment.

4. This model has a built in lifetime HEPA filter and is allergen certified. Something about double filtration, where lower models are only single filtration. Things haven't even started turning green yet and my allergies have already kicked in full force (as of last week), so I can use all the help I can get.

5. Five year warranty versus a two year warranty.

6. The 20% off coupon saved me over a hundred bucks, so might as well get the best one!

I didn't get home with the new vacuum until late tonight, so I haven't used it yet. I'll use it tomorrow. Two of my friends have Dysons and are absolutely in love with them.

The older I get, the more I realize how true the old saying is - you get what you pay for! I hope that's the case with this purchase. Based on the many reviews I've read of this vacuum online, I don't think I'll be disappointed.

Anybody else have a Dyson? Do you like it?

Argh I want one of those too but I'm not will to shell out that kind of moola. Maybe some kind rich uncle I don't know will be me one as a house warming present whenever I get a house!

I love those dyson commercials. That guy is just about saying all other vacuums are jacked up compared to his

Re: Dyson Animal Vacuum

My mum has one of the older models (upright ones)
She hates it, although it's really powerful, it's damn noisy, heh
She also hates using the rotary brushes on the front, because if they for whatever reason get jammed, it sounds like a gatling gun going off

But yea, I would probably get one if they weren't so expensive.

Re: Dyson Animal Vacuum

I have a Rainbow model vacuum cleaner that works great for pet hair. Nice thing is that it is water based and works better than any bag or bagless vacuum. It filters everthing and never gets clogged. If you are looking for another one in the future, you might check it out. Beware though...it is very costly, but worth it. It would be the last vacuum you would ever need though.

I am thinking about investing in one of those, since we have two cats.

Re: Dyson Animal Vacuum

We used to have a Rainbow Vacuum for my allergies! Not only did it vacuum it said it could be a air purifier. It traps all the dust mites etc in the water so they can't be recyled back into the air. This was almost 20 years ago, and the Rainbow was like $1,000+ I think. How much are they today?? I would love to have another. You wouldn't believe how dirty your carpets are until you see that mucky water
