I have this friend whom I grew up with. We were really close until about 9th grade and then had a falling out. When we got to about 11th grade we worked everything out and continued to be friends. After graduation, we kind of drifted apart, saying hi and catching up when we saw one another. This past summer, her child was on my soccer team and we got to talk more. That was fine with me but now.........OMG! She calls me at least 5 times a day, to talk about absolutely nothing. I try to not answer the phone but then she leaves me a message everytime she calls. If I don't call her back she calls until someone answers and I talk to her. My husband tells me just to say something to her about it but she is a very confrontational person and has her feelings hurt easy. Anyone have any ideas on how to handle this? I do really like her but I can't get anything done with her calling constantly.

Gah.. I had a friend like that once.. lived upstairs from me in the same apartment building. EVERY SINGLE NIGHT he'd knock on the door and want to come in and chat for hours. It got to the point that I was hiding with the lights turned out around the time he was coming home. I got so sick of it that I had to just tell him to back off a bit and that I really enjoy my alone time and that I'd give him a call when I was available to chat. That approach seemed to work, but who knows.. people are very different.

Ive never had a friend like that thank god, but a few other people have done that to me...its freaking annoying

You just gotta tell her that you enjoy talking to her but for her to call once and when you can you will call her back,

I'm with Deimos on this one.. least IRL... if i had a friend like that im not sure how id handle it... id probably try to explain to them that i enjoy my space.. however, it would probably come out something like... STFU and leave me alone... i try to be tactful.. but its like a 50/50 shot that it will actually work

I think just telling them that youll give them a call when you can and if they continually call...then you gotta put your foot down and tell them that they cant keep calling.

I say hook her up with Adri's stalker... that'll keep her out of your hair for a while. Two birds with one stone. *snickerz*
