I ordered new telephone service threw a cheaper company *smites Verizon*. I hadn’t heard anything about my order, they said it could take 30 days to complete, instead it has taken 14! My DSL is no longer working & I have yet to receive my new DSL modem & installation stuff from Cavalier. I called & they said “we’ll have it to you as soon as possible” . What am I going to do! I'll miss you all! *dies*

Stories like these make me ever so happy about my cable company... a while ago they called me to tell me the cable modem connection type I'd been using for years will be discontinued, and I should opt for one of their other deals. Okay, fine with that, I told 'em I'll take a 2mb connection then. They tell me that they'll need to replace my old modem with a new one to facilitate this.

So the next day a guy shows up at my door with a package, "here's your new modem, sign here please. And if you'd kindly hand me your old one, I'll lug it away for you". Cool. I get the new modem, plug it in and it's like nothing ever changed at all.

To top it all off, none of this cost me one penny and the new connection actually has a cheaper monthly rate than the old one. Not all companies are in league with the devil!

Verizon is a crappy company, if you are in their area you may be able to have Pioneer, they are much better.

Adrianna, my company did the same thing. They said, "your modem is out of date, please take this new one" I was like, uh I didnt even notice, cool thanks. I hated the company at first, cause they didnt have WGN, and I couldnt watch Cubs games, but eventually they got it, and all was well in the world...I could watch my beloved Cubs lose in HD 80 games a year!!!!!!!! Whooters Cubs
(BTW its a digital tv/phone/highspeed package bundle type of company)

Well I got the DSL to work after troubleshooting with customer support. So Yay i'm on!!! Now I can't my router to work! The home page wont even come up, gah! Everyone else in the house is going stir crazy! It's amazing how the whole family is internet obsessed now.

Verizon is not to bad for Cellular service, but when Ive had to deal with them concerning anything else, they were a pain.

What kind of router (wired/less, make, etc.) and hows it not working?

I have a Linksys Wireless-G (WKPC54G).

I finally was able to make it work. With this new DSL I had to enter my new IP address & when I would try to load the Routers home page http://192.168.1.1/
I would get page can not be displayed, so I couldn't log in & configure the router. I had to go & change TCP/IP to Obtain IP Automatically, then it worked fine! I hate it when I go bonkers trying to figure something out and it ends up being something so simple!

I am using Cavelier now, It seems just as fast, except on myspace. I don't know if its the new DSL or msypace. Also - instead of giving you your e-mail info on the same page as the set up for DSL, they make you go this website. I go to it and enter the info it tells me to enter & it says its not valid. Boo!
