![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: continued audience survey while i don't remember the posters very well.. I remember being fond of "the ring's" poster... as for factors that encourage me to see the film.. good art work, that leaves a bit of mystery.. of course with all art work it must speak to the audience's tastes and imagination.. I have seen very colorful and very dark posters that have stirred interest in certain films.. for example, the art work for "Pan's Labyrinth" left me wondering what kind of movie would be taking place in this world... it was that interest that led me to investigate more about the film, and now I can't wait till it enters theaters around here. for the current genres, the horror movies (like i said in the other post) should really play on the fears and imagination of the viewer. Because a poster can only show so much, I think it less important to try to sum up the film than it is to provoke the audience. with the Mob/gangster movies, (imo, you've seen one you've seen them all....) the typical guys with decent suits and guns, or bad !!! guys with guns, etc.. for movies of this type, a slogan or saying that shed a little light on the direction of the movie might help... for example "lucky number sleven" was a good flick, I don't remember the poster off hand, but if I were to design a poster for it, Id try to give the audience a hint about the direction... clue them in a little that its not your typical mob movie.... not that the hint would be obvious, it would just aid in that... "wow it all makes sense now.." feeling.. once again, hope this helps ![]() I've never figured out how to be gracefully humble without appearing weak. Nor have I figured out how to be gracefully passionate without appearing arrogant. In the end, I always seem to be arrogant and weak instead of humbly passionate. |

So I can't be of much help. I pay almost no attention to movie posters really. I use some film web sites to find trailers, reviews, and film clips. ![]() Tuka ![]() ![]() Kinsmen are born.
