Busted

taken from Thread :- BUSTED found in UO.UHall

Ok, we see legions and legions of stories on these forums about folks who get away with bloody murder, duping, hacking, and God knows what other unsavory activities -- and getting away with it.

On the flipside, does anyone have any stories of witnessing someone get nailed, and feeling the wonderful righteous indignation of seeing a lowlife get his just desserts?

Erm.. I saw a guy get banned for unattended macroing/scripting at Luna bank yesterday. He wasn't really doing anything heinous though, just being annoying enough that everyone at the bank finally paged on him. Something went wrong with his script and he was spamming "300" over and over really fast. Everyone was trying to guess what the 300 meant, maybe he was bidding in an auction? Solving math problems? Anyway we were pretty amused by our comments, and then the GM showed up and hauled him off, to much cheering.

I'm not much into "righteous indignation" myself though, it was more like "thank you dear GM for removing this godawful annoying spammer from my presence... sweet relief.."

The one I can share is as follows:

I was in a shared vendor house, and this was back when there was a pricing bug. You see, if you dropped an item on your vendor, it was instantly for sale, for a game-determined price (usually under 100 gold) until you could type in the price and description.

So this dork buys out a bow from me for 54 gold instead of 10k, using this bug as I was stocking. Then he starts to get obnoxious and gloat about it. So I just page a GM, and tell the GM what he's up to. The GM says he is watching.

So I go back to restocking. Foolio does it again, and even says "LOL got you again n00b"... and then I see [squelched] over his head and he says no more.

The GM appears and tells him he was caught redhanded using an exploit. He takes away the ill-gotten items and gives it back to me. Then the GM takes him away. In a few minutes, his vendor disappears. Never saw that guy again...

Seeing somebody get busted is naturally going to be a lot more rare than seeing somebody get away with it, because, for privacy reasons, we don't make this sort of action public. I know it's not as much fun... but just in case we're ever wrong, we don't want to have trashed someone's reputation in the process.

I don't suppose we could have an event with an NPC forger caught duping gold, put in the stocks and made a practice dummy for thrown vegables? Having said token criminal NPC drawn and quartered by paragon gaman would be be a bonus. Just a thought
LOL!

I'd rather they grab a real duper and let us PK him over and over and over and over and...

Explain to me and the rest of us, how the same person has been running an illegal script for well over 6 months now, and appears to never get caught? I've personally paged on them no less than 10 times, and I get a canned response everytime, with no GM showing up. If anyone would like to see them, and the guilty aren't currently reading Stratics, go to the small Jhelom Island with the farm area. This person has 2 houses on the west side of the island, fairly close together. One character is Recall Lumberjacking (you can hear the saws), and i"m not sure what resource the other player is gathering, but I can assure you they are both Scripted, this is on LA Trammel btw......

Bring on the pillory and stocks! Purely for roleplaying purposes. Never under-estimate the power of public shaming. *throws tomatoes*

Live and let live I say. Too many wanna be goody two shoes who'll page on you even when you're not afk. So I dont want to talk to some conceited self-important player, doesnt mean I'm afk scripting.
