Re: Broker representation,

The internet age, everyone's so intent on getting a message across as fast as possible that they form shortcuts for everything. I blame the lack of ability to type fast enough! Its not hard to learn how to type. Who knows though. The day they start updating the dictionary to compensate for the lack of grammar and spelling is the day the world becomes stupid.

I'm no wizz at grammar or spelling, but I mean, come on, there's appropriate, then there's just ridiculous.

"yo dawg, gud 2 c u at da bank." my attempt at trying to understand how this is considered communication.

Re: Broker representation,

Back to the original posters' topic ...

What I perceived as his points are:

When there are so many vendors selling the same things that are suppose to be dupped, at different prices, how are we as buyers to know what is duped and what isn't?

If the people who are able to stop these kinds of transactions from becoming a normal day to day event, how are we as buyers to know what are legal and illegal items?

Instead of letting the duped items become a rampant norm of the game, why do the people who can pull the plug on it instantly choose to wait so long to correct the mistakes made by the game and not by innocent players? Unless it is to make all players, without them even realizing it, eventually end up with at least one illegal item so that the game is considered a loss.

*******************

Good points I think ... I personally would rather them shut down our game long enough to fix the coding which allows any type of duping in the first place and delete any duped items made by such coding.

By doing so, not only will I as a player feel that what I buy off a vendor (or trade with someone) is less likely to be illegal but I think the dupers would realize that we aren't the kind of game that waits around for things to change while they profit off the backs of all of us.

We're nearly to that point now. I mean, Webster's Dictionary now has an entry for "bling-bling".

My favorite retort out of these people?

"but u understud whot it wuz i wuz sayin its just type"

Yes well, it is being read by people in the real world and in that world, you are (understandably) judged by how well you communicate.

Re: Broker representation,

I think this poster is way off base, and if you don't mind Queen I'll use your translations, since they're easier on the eyes.

Quote:

You can't know. That's the whole idea behind a "dupe" (AKA, "duplicated" item). It's an item that is same as the original in nearly every way. What you need to do is use a little common sense and when you hear that there is rampant duping, be careful of who you buy items from (hint: sellers motivated by real life money are generally more susceptible to cheating (not all, but some)).

Quote:

Again, a little sense goes a long away. Buyer beware. And on that note, I want to say that EA shouldn't make some effort to try and make it crystal clear if an item is legitimate or illegal (like, an extra property or some other in-game indication). EA is not going to ban you if you unknowingly bought a dupe by mistake (and if they do, there are ways to clear up such messes).

This is assuming that they are actually capable of "pulling the plug on it instantly", which they are not. EA had to spend a considerable amount of time investigating this problem in order to determine as accurately as possible who to ban and who not to ban. If they just "pulled the plug on it instantly", I guarantee you there would be a lot more accounts banned (by that I mean, many more wrongful bannings).

I want to say that I don't see the issue here, but to be honest, I do see it. Logically, if you were glad that EA made this move to remove dupers and duped items from the game, you wouldn't be complaining that they busted a ton of accounts and tons of obviously duped items. However, if you do have an issue with EA doing this, that means you're upset, which means you're not glad about EA removing dupers and duped items, which means you are an exploiter or support exploiting in some way. Good riddance, exploiter.

Might as well make bad grammer into a primary language sense no one hardly uses the normal one... I am bad at it mostly because I was never good at in the first place >_<

Re: Broker representation,

Well, there's definitely a difference in a small grammatical error, then purposely mis-spelling words because its "faster." English is actually, one of the hardest languages to learn, just for the mere fact that we have so many rules on grammar that honestly, don't make sense, or are really hard to grasp. If you atleast make an attempt at coherency, people will take you seriously, if you don't... jeez, good luck.

edit: I just read what I wrote, and I have a few grammatical errors there too, but atleast I'm making it understandable.

a high five to the person who can find my errors!

Re: Broker representation,

I forgot what the point of the post was while trying to figure out what he/she was typing. And just FYI for you Adam...there are a lot of people outside the US that type/spell English and use better grammar then most of us in the US do.

Re: Broker representation,

Before this thread goes any further and ends up being moved to the off topic general discussion forum and/or locked, let's focus on the original concerns and issues made by the poster. For all we know the original poster has dyslexia and we are not here to make that kind of judgement.

If someone wants to have a language debate then take it to the off topic general discussion forum where it belongs.

Although the original post was not made on UOForums, it is still common courtesy to respect the original poster.
