According to Snopes this is not yet confirmed.

But that's still one heck of a pig. Big enough that I have a hard time believing a boy brought it down with a pistol.

I think that's the part I have the hardest time believing. A revolver? Maybe an elephant gun! I guess if he got it 8 places in areas which would cause it to bleed to death quickly, that might be feasible.
