Mia Dearden.
Introduced by Kevin Smith into a resurrection/revamp of Oliver Queen entitled "Quiver." She has since then become the new, famale Speedy. Originally a prostitute, she becomes one of Oliver Queen's (Green Arrow) extended family. She predictably is tested positive for HIV.

Kara Zor-El
Re-introduced into DC continuity by the Superman/ Batman comic, her new origin has her trapped in a escape pod which is encased in a meteorite fragment of Krypton. Amusingly, the effects of her imprisonment has slowed her aging so that thirty years or so pass without her getting older. The joke? Superman was a baby when he left Krypton, but she was a teenager. So... she's still a teenager and her cousin, Superman, is "older" than her.

Stephanie Brown
She has been in continuity nearly since the 80s as a love-interest to Tim Drake (Robin III) and appeared in his Robin comics as well as in Batman comics and cross-overs. She had made her own turn as a vigilante, adopting the name "Spoiler" after she had found out her father was a minor villain named Cluemaster. Due to circumstances I will not address, Tim Drake temporarily quit being Robin, thus leading to Stephanie becoming Robin IV (The Girl Wonder) but this was not meant to last. Batman fires her after she uses deadly force on a serial killer and after they both are nearly killed by a female assassin. She then was recently as of last year killed in the cross-over series "War Games."


So what have got? One is is "dying" of a deadly illness which might lead to AIDS, the other is super-powered teenager whose powers are actually BETTER than her cousin's, and one dead girl who is killed off needlessly at the pinacle of her career.
